Today’s post is dedicated to @vik.jensen - a dear friend who grows over 50 varieties of chilies in Serbia (including the HOT Carolina Reaper) and organizes the Balkan Chili Festival. This year I was honored to be invited to judge the chili eating festival along with local chefs. At the festival Vik kindly gave me a stash of his spicy, hot chilies and I decided to use them in a simple chicken gravy. .
Recipe - I wanted the heat of the chilies to shine through in this dish and so it has only sliced red onions, ginger-garlic paste, some sweet paprika, turmeric powder and fresh coriander leaves. Heat oil fry the onions till translucent, add GG paste, sauté a few minutes, add the paprika and turmeric powders. Cook till oil separates then add your chicken and salt and let it cook in its own juices. The chilies packed a hot punch and had a slight vinegary taste to it but it was balanced out by the sweet paprika. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve with rice or rotis.
It all came together rather beautifully and I was so happy to have a lovely Indian style chicken gravy using chilies grown in Serbia. If you swipe you can see the beautiful location where the chilies grow and also me along with my fellow judges at the Balkan Chili Festival.
In 2019 collaborating with @restoran_miamiam I hope to delight you with more Indian cuisine using beautiful, local produce from Serbia. Watch this space ♥️ and thank you for your love and support 🙏

The undisputed fan favourite of the year thus far: grilled wallaby topside, beetroot, pepperberry, labneh. Does the job all right. #whatdoesittastelike?

One of my favourite things ever is filling our fridge with local produce from roadside stalls 🥦🥑🌱
Meanwhile back at the "Lenswood cube" JT (Mr Tilbrook Estate) enjoys a wood oven pizza with a mate over a glass of Savvy B and a Pinot Noir. Gee this Pinot is cracking stuff!

Fancy an uber refreshing raspberry and mint spider?
To one large glass add:
💚 1 x generous scoop of vanilla ice cream
💚 Mix 30 ml of @sodapressco Organic Raspberry & Mint Syrup with
💚 150mls of Soda Water and slowly pour into glass.
How easy is that?! 😍
No one wants to start thinking about winter 🙈 but.... there is an abundance of fresh local berries and organic garlic available in season at the moment and one of the easiest things you can make is some healing fermented honey garlic with berries to be ready for change of season lurgies and sniffles. I’ve broken up 2 heads of home grown garlic with some amazing local mulberries (thanks Claire 😘) and popped in a jar and topped with amazing @westbee_honey. I’ll pop the lid on loosely and stir and burp it daily for about 8 days then pop it in the cupboard, it will become rich and runny and full of natural probiotics. The garlic cloves can be used in cooking and the liquid into a tonic add hot water for an instant soothing drink or have neat 👌🏻I’ll make this one and a straight honey and garlic one. Thanks Claudia for the tip on adding berries 💕 #honey#garlic#berries#localproduce#buylocal#tassie#healing#foods#raw#probiotics#ferment#fermented#health#naturally#nutrition#nutritionist

@shanalmoore used organic hass avocados and cauliflower from our farm box to make tacos! Also, re-posting some great sick remedies you can share! #farmbox#organic#localproduce#fooddelivery
It’s a cold and rainy day (for San Diego 😝), which seems to coincide perfectly with getting sick 😩😷 Tell me, besides plenty of rest and water, what are some of your favorite at-home cold remedies?
Whenever I start to feel a tingly throat, I’ll gargle warm salt water. “... studies have found that gargling several times a day with warm salt water can reduce swelling in the throat and loosen mucus, helping to flush out irritants or bacteria!” As a child I would give this practice the biggest eye roll! I was convinced that my elders knew nothing especially if the remedy didn’t come in a pill form 😭 As an adult, I appreciate its wholeness, simplicity and wisdom.
Another (not vegan) one I remember is swallowing a spoonful of manuka honey, or drinking it with a warm tea + lemon. Turns out, honey is a natural antibiotic 🐝 💫 I also remember my granny drinking garlic water! 🤯 I wish she were still here, I’ve got so many questions now!
Pictured is chipotle cauliflower fajitas with avocado and a black bean creams. While it was delicious, I should’ve blended it up into a soup instead!
