Latest update on the #oregoncoastkitties ! After you haven’t heard from us a few days, you might have begun to wonder - and right you are, it is the time to WONDER 🎈 💜 🎉 After Chiton, Sea Star and Nudibranch went to surgery at the beginning of February we had Ella and #anemone scheduled for Valentine’s Day 💋 However, Annie got preadopted that weekend and after he was alone he gained weight like a big boy 😺 We were able to move the schedule up rapidly and got him to @catadoptpdx this last Friday and after that into both his new mommies loving hands 👭Hazelkittens home is empty again and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for Ella to be adopted. She is such a sweet girl and even though we had several interested parties, no one adopted her just yet. She’s waiting for her forever home at CAT in Sherwood. Meanwhile, we’re cleaning and prepping for whatever kitties and cats come up next 🐈 #hazelkittens#adoptdontshop#cerebellarhypoplasia#chkitty#catadoptpdx#tualatin#tigard#beaverton#pdx#portland#wilsonville#localcats#fosteringsaveslives
We spend our sunrises feeding the local cats, keeping an eye out for one that might be a suitable to join our crew. I sure have been fascinated by them lately, we have given nearly 20 of them names. There is a local charity shop that watches after the @lagosferrycats. They are sterilized, de-wormed, fed and so very friendly. I am impressed with the group of people who look after them, you would never even know they were stray. I also am turning into a crazy cat lady.
Meanwhile, in the boatyard @sopromarlagos, we have a stainless steel rudder post being fabricated. Luke found mahogany for the rudder blade core and we are closer every day to tackling this big project. We have re-bedded the stantions, re-painted the bottom, fitted new life-lines, our sails are being patched, the dodger will be replaced, two solar panels arriving tomorrow, thorough inspection of the rig, polishing all the metal, and when we are not sanding/varnishing I personally have been spending a lot of time strategizing secure placement of interior objects. It’s odd to have what feels like a full time job, and receive no income. To pour your savings into sailing, its certainly been a conscious choice. It’s a cycle that I entered 6 years ago and I don’t see it ending any time soon. I will be stressed out come spring, yes, but that is what gives me the ravenous motivation to hustle during wedding/portrait/photo season. So I can do it all over again.
They say work hard play hard. But maybe it should be work hard for something professional, and work harder for something personal. What do ya think ?
Psa 💗💗💗💗💗💗 — being the ultimate cat mom I feel it necessary to make sure to say something. The next few days are supposed to be dangerously low temps so please watch out for your local feral/stray cats. Even just putting out a box or bin with a roof and some towels is helping or buying some cheap cat food to set outside.
Betsy (or outside girl who even has her own house and bed etc) will be staying in the garage until the temps go back up with her very own heating pad in her bed (lucky girl) with all the other necessities as well of course. Please stay warm and safe! ( this pic is JFK + Onyx, who was previously a stray ) .
