There is so much going on in this land right now. I'm really out of words and I cant explain how I feel as many of us are.
But right now I decided to write something that happened at my place.
Its was around 12:00 am and we heard someone knocking our gates, so we peeped out of our windows in fear. Luckily it was the Srilankan Army and Police. My mother went ahead and opened the gate and almost 8 to 10 men walked inside.
The first question they asked ma mother was, " Are you all safe?" Which was a question we didnt expect. The house I live in is surrounded with people of different religion and very few Muslim families. 🙏 Fortunately my neighbourhood has been very supportive and nice towards us in the past few days. Everytime they saw us they said, "Do not be afraid,we wouldn't let anyone harm you all."
They had few queries to ask,yet they made sure non of their words would hurt us. They also insisted on calling the police emergency incase we are in threat.
They went ahead to check the our premises and we decided to offer them some tea and biscuits, and some cold water. My mother was not really sure if they would accept it without doubt, cuz we all know what some extremists have done by using the name of our religion.
So my mother went ahead and drank the water before offering it to an Amry officer and said, " you can have these now" and what he said in return made me really grateful for being born in this nation of such wonderful people. He replied," No mother, Mother you do not have do that to prove it" and all my mother could do was 🙏 to them.
For they have been working for 12 hours without a break, and continue spending the night checking and guarding us. Definitely #GuardiansOfSriLanka .
On another note, Islam is a religion of peace, and it actually teaches us to follow the rules of the nation. Of the land we live in. Srilanka is a multi cultural land and we need to live in peace, implementing sharia law in this land is not acceptable, this land has given us more freedom and liberty than any of the Muslim countries has given to Muslims. And if anyone is against it,then kindly Get the hell out of my Country. #saynototerrorism#UnitedWeStand #lka
There is no doubt that Sri Lanka has given Muslims more freedom, more privilege than any other non Muslim Countries. Our Muslim women in Sri Lanka have more rights than so called Arabian Muslim Countries. This country has gone to the extent of giving Muslims a marital law, divorce law, five times azan on radio every single day, and even a Mercantile Holiday on our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ's Birthday!
Thats the truth after all and all this was possible because we lived as One with Buddhists, Christians, Hindus and the rest - merely as "Sri Lankans"
So what's the bloody need for an "Islamic State" when the state has treated us much better than any other Islamic States out there ??? I as a Sri Lankan who follow Islam as the religion, stand Strongly against any action that is lead towards a division of this beautiful Sri Lanka.
I was born a Sri Lankan, I live as a Sri Lankan and I will die a Sri Lankan!
Not something design related.
But answering with a design because sad to see some international media and some individuals trying to convey a wrong message about Sri Lanka. Here's the flag of my motherland and what its symbols mean.
We as one nation mourn over the hundreds of lives lost and injured during #eastersundayattackslk .
But one thing for sure as the flag says, we Sri Lankans will live in harmony no matter what and our main religion will protect all other minorities as it always did and always will be. We stood against terrorism, achieved peace once and we will do it again.
We forgive because hate is not our way.🇱🇰 May triple gems and god bless my motherland. ---------------------------------------------
It's bit hard to focus these days to work on a design or an article other than office work with breaking news everywhere since last Sunday.. But I will do soon. :) #LKA#Colombo#SriLanka#Designers#UX#PhotoofTheDays#Love#United#SriLankans
This post is dedicated to my best friends/family in #Australia - A (Jamaican) Christian and a (Pakistani) Muslim who always had my back. I wouldn’t be who I am without your love, support and care. And it’s amazing how our friendship remains strong up-to-date regardless of religious beliefs (References to religion were made only when cracking crude jokes about each other). 😂
WE ARE ALL SRI LANKA.
With a heavy heavy heart, I want to wish my fellow Christians around the world a happy Easter. This is not easy to say on a day like today. Like you all, I woke up to this horrific news thinking "not again." I have not felt myself since the morning, but I can not imagine how my Christian brothers and sisters around the world feel, especially those in Sri Lanka.
What I can do is be HERE. I AM HERE. If anyone wants to talk, let me know. If anyone has direct trustable links to raise funds for the people impacted, let me know and I will do my damn best to get these people funding and spread the word. This photo is a photo of unity. These are the Faith's that represent this beautiful region, and now, more than ever, we must come together for our Christian brothers and sisters here and elsewhere around the world. I, your Muslim brother, will be here for you....
WE ARE ALL ONE.
WE ARE ALL SRI LANKA. @jd.moha
Burj Khalifa lit up with colours of Sri Lankan Flag
UAE pays tribute to the people who lost their lives on Easter Sunday
The world’s tallest building was turned green, orange and maroon on Thursday in memory of those who tragically lost their lives in the Sri Lanka bombings.
More than 250 people died when terrorists staged a co-ordinated attack on churches and upmarket hotels in the country on Easter Sunday.
The UAE paid its tribute to victims by lighting up the Burj Khalifa in Dubai with the colours of the Sri Lankan flag.
Other landmarks in the Emirates, including the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and the Emirates Palace, have also shown their solidarity this week by displaying Sri Lankan colours.
Dear Father, may I call you a friend?
Do listen to me.
On a Sunday like this, yes I do concede,
My heart is but torn in the middle,
I was hoping You would help me to steer my beliefs.
On one hand I was a seed, planted and weaved,
Been taught, I've been plenty, from childhood to moments I choked on their weeds.
Yet here comes another and another,
Their lips move in a manner which my ears could not deserve,
Surely it's all but illusion,
They could not know better than me, my mind and my Earth.
But then again, dear Father, could it be the powers that be?
I placed them there, on pedestal, so they would serve me,
Do I drink in all of their speeches?
Or flush them down a stream of red and dirty green?
You're right, their truth is but forever,
Bought at the highest bid in an auction of power and glee.
Across the aisle I confess I was just as lost,
In all this commotion and subliminal elusive thoughts,
I met a man and his story,
He told me "Dear brother, look at me, i'm radiant as the sun"
He told me he would hear me,
But truth be told, his words felt forced right upon my tongue.
Now it's possibly here that the chaos all starts,
The birth of the rivers of red and these calcified hearts,
All from refusal of their own words, for a place to light up a part of my dark,
How could I blame him, my brother, for pushing back and rejecting my own art?
Dear Father i know we've been at this for a while,
Not just on this Sunday, but for years, yes I've heard it all through the vines,
All we have is but each other,
Let's tussle over words,
but break bread and do share the wine,
Blow by blow, let's iron out the creases,
Yet pick each other up and laugh out loud for a while.
Thank you dear Father you listened, now tell me,
what ask you of me?
To come home? I will, stay near the wishing tree,
For soon I'll be with you,
Is it sooner than you would have me believe?
"oh hello my dear brother, what's this gift you brought for me?"
Should I stand here so very still?
So very still.
Eating outdoors in a tropical country, under a sunny sky and one giant shady tree sounds divine, doesn’t it? It paints a picture of bliss, relaxation, vacation and even smells like sunscreen to those who are in colder weather. Just so you know, to take these pictures, the amount of flies and bugs I had to swat at…. #^$&$^&%#%!!!!!! That’s what tropical weather is made of ladies and gents. Bugs & other flying insects. #triggered
I haven’t had pizza in eons. Italian food, as much I do enjoy it, isn’t something I reach out for often. But I woke up the other day and my body said, “Pizzaaaa”. Since the country is still under threat of being attacked by terrorists at this point, eating out was not an option. So this was what I ordered through @ubereats_lk . Pizza Salmon Affumicato from @harpospizzapasta with olives as added topping. •
Let me keep it brief. It was DELISH!! Go have a slice yourself! You really should!
It’s taken us a few days to write this as we are all shellshocked and horrified that such terrible atrocities could have been committed in Sri Lanka, which has been wonderfully peaceful these last 10 years. We are saddened by the loss of life. Our hearts go out to all of those who have been tragically affected by these terrible events.
Sri Lanka’s warm and friendly people have felt happy and fulfilled in the years since the civil war, and these attacks come completely out of the blue. We love Sri Lankan culture for its diversity - not only in terms of its varied destinations but also for its multi ethnic and multi religious society. A society that happily accepts and respects each other’s differences. Having lived here through the tsunami and civil war we also know Sri Lankans to be some of the most resilient people in the world. They will bounce back, but given that so many people rely on tourism they are nervous and need our support.
From a personal perspective, we want to thank everyone who has reached out to us with kind and heartfelt messages. It’s early days but we believe in Sri Lanka and hope you will too. Just like us, our hotel and travel partners are operating as normal with extra caution and care. We and they are very much following the advice of the local authorities.
There is no doubt that Sri Lanka has given Muslims more freedom, more privilege than any other non Muslim Countries. Our Muslim women in Sri Lanka have more rights than so called Arabian Muslim Countries. It’s been 4 days since Sri Lanka met with one of the deadliest attacks in its history. A decade of peace and happiness turned In to tears and sorrows
We are a multicultural nation filled with love and hospitality. We are a nation that reacted to a terrorist attack by overflowing the blood banks within a few hours of the attack. We are a country not only of just Muslims , Christians , Sinhalese and Tamils but some of us now have the blood of a different race literally running in our veins . A Christian victim might now have the blood of a Muslim in them . A Sinhalese victim might now have the blood of a Tamil in them . .
So many charities , so many individuals , so many Sri Lankan’s risking their lives to help the victims. This is the Sri Lanka I know. .
While the tri forces , the doctors the journalists have done a better job in keeping the situation under control, the government has successfully managed to fail us again. Remember they knew it and they did nothing. They were informed and they did nothing . .
That said here’s a humble request from me to you , for the very ‘few’ out there who might see the events that took place in Sri Lanka from a different angle . No religion ever teaches to solve a problem by violence but peace and justice. Remember a whole community is not responsible for what happened but only a few extremists! Extremists who hid behind the name of religion to justify their ungodly acts. Please act wisely and spread love and peace at a time like this. Do not point your finger at the innocent people who had nothing to do with what happened. They are innocent as much as you are. They are scared as much you are. They are citizens of this country as much you are. .
Understand the motive of these extremists . Understand they did what they did to create division among us Sri Lankan’s . Be proud that thus far we have managed to stay together as one . Be happy that we didn’t let them win . Know that together we can get through this and together we can bring those who wish us harm down . .
Together we stand divided we fall ♥️

We mourn today and everyday for the dead and pray that we will remain united in the face of this cowardly act of terrorism against our people.
