Last night consisted of the most seductive sliders and spiked shakes. But what was even sweeter was the decision to turn left instead of right back the the house. We stumbled upon this quiet little park and beach. We searched for clam and hermit shells, skipped the flattest rocks in the sand and witnessed yet another unforgettable sunset. We stood through the bright yellow, then pinks and purples. I could have stood there until the last drop of pink turned black. Sure, N had 3 time outs, there was a dropped bowl of yogurt and I had to drink two extra coffees to get to this moment...but I love focusing on the good from the day. I love displaying and documenting the oh-so-mouthwatering-goodness to smile back on.
Imagine stepping back to 1930 and seeing the Chrysler Building reaching for the skies? Well One Vanderbilt being constructed on the right is the next supertall skyscraper to join the ranks that is a whooping 1,401 feet tall! Once completed it will be the 4th largest building in NYC.
"Come to the book as you would come to an unexplored land. Come without a map. Explore it and draw your own map."
This is my favorite Coming of Age story. The setting is great, the characters are fantastic, the descriptions created lifeling images in my head, and the story is a lot of fun.
Low Men In Yellow Coats, a novella which appears in Hearts In Atlantis, takes place in 1960 Connecticut (though, at 300+ pages, I see it as a novel in its own right). Bobby Garfield has lost his father and lives with his mother Liz. One day, a man named Ted Brautigan moves into Bobby's building. The two quickly become good friend, against his mother's wishes.
Bobby loves reading and Ted broadens his horizon in literature, introducing him to works like The Lord of the Flies. But Ted is a strange man. He has psychic powers and is being chased by a bunch of creatures he calls 'Low Men'. Bobby gets suck right into a strange world he never knew existed. .
A big plus for Dark Tower fans, this novella is heavy of the DT connections!

Feels, like I found my safe place in the arms of this serious man.
Probably it's not our best photo. But this one is depicting two very important things for me: calmness and pacification when I'm with him. It feels like home.

Idk, you meet thousands of people and none of them really touch you. And then you meet one person and your life is changed forever.

“I know I've said it a hundred times before, but I'll never become tired of these kind of mornings before the earth fully wakes, where everything seems to simply come to a standstill... Like it's just waiting to be reveled in. 💙”
