It was a much needed getaway, most of it spent out of reach. The middle of the Hiawatha Natl Forest is a great place to have adventures and relocate that fleeting sense of self that gets temporarily buried by the usual BS.
Life is full of choices that need to be made on the fly. Life is full of teaching lessons. .
Theres a fork in the road ahead. Choose 1 way to go. Do you.. go down the first choice and always consider what is down road number 2? Or do you.. never turn back and never consider there was another option to begin with? .
So many times in our lives we dwell on what could have been or what might have been if we'd only made a different choice at certain crossroads of our lives. I myself am no stranger to this. However, teaching the next generation it is my duty to express that every choice is a good one regardless of the outcome. You experience, adapt and educate yourself on what you'd do differently if the opportunity came up again. Dwelling on what could have been takes up unnecessary time and in this specific scenario would have kept me away from my family as we experienced one of the most beautiful views on our trip.
Friends visited this weekend and they brought Anja, their cesky fousek, a Czech wire haired hunting dog. So we played at the beach and talked dogs for two days. This was a good weekend. 🐕
If I ever move away- this is where you can find me. I fall in love with this city a little more each time, and it gets harder and harder to say goodbye. ^ photo cred: @jordan52398 thanks for being the best travel companion and best friend I could ever ask for. I love going on adventures with you. (This sounds very couple-y 😭)

I think it’s safe to say this guy is having the best weekend ever.
Visualizing Lake Superior’s area and volume. By Phil Bencomo.
“Lake Superior is the world's largest freshwater lake by surface area – 31,700 square miles (82,100 square kilometres), or roughly the size of Maine – and holds 10 percent of the world's surface fresh water. (By volume, it's the third largest, behind Lake Baikal in Siberia and Lake Tanganyika in eastern Africa.) Lake Superior's 3 quadrillion gallons are enough to cover both North and South America under a foot of water.”
“Here's another (preposterous) way to think about it: Downing half a gallon of water daily, it would take you 16.4 trillion years to drink Lake Superior. Or the entire world population of 7 billion people, each person drinking half a gallon per day, could together polish off Lake Superior in 2,348 years.”
“The Big Lake holds as much water as all of the other Great Lakes combined plus three more Lake Eries. To reach its deepest point, you'd need to descend 1,276 feet – about the distance of a ride down from the top floor of Chicago's 108-story Willis Tower.”
“Lake Superior is so large and so deep that its retention time – about how long an average drop of water remains in the Lake – is 191 years. For Lake Michigan it's 99 years, Huron 22, Ontario 6 and Erie just 2.6 years. No wonder ours is called Superior.”

Last Sunday I took my own advice. I found a new place to take some time for myself to meditate, and simply let solitude in.
