Name: Mohammad Shakeel Age: 52 years “Mr Shakeel has been with ALC since it’s inception, it’s going to be a 10 year long run. He used to work in textile mill when through his brother in law he found out about the Centre, in need of a job. It took him 4 months to get a grip on the technical aspects of assembling a limb, the @jaipurfoot team stayed around for 6 months training them. Today, he is known as Dr Shakeel to the victims, he gets calls from cities as far as Rawalpindi and Peshawar. People give him feedback, they call him for advice. He can look at a person and guess the measurement. He has 3 kids and all of them are in university, though he wasn’t aware of social welfare before joining ALC but whatever he does he gives it his 100%” #prostheticleg#ngo#charity#fundraiser#notforprofit#karachidiaries#pakistanzindabad#helpothers
Minha and I have been on 3 flights in the past 48 hours. One of which included an emergency landing for a sick passenger, being stuck in the plane for 4 hours and a missed connection for which we had to stay an extra night in London.
So while we were at the London airport and having dinner - both of us looking probably completely exhausted as Minha was singing "Let it go" and I was asking her to not be so loud 🤦🏾♀️- these two older women on one side were chatting and looking at us.
And when our eyes met, of them said, "we were just discussing how well behaved your daughter is and how good a mom you are." I was blown away. Really, after such a troubling 36 hours these few words of love and kindness from a complete stranger were exactly the boost I needed to keep going on the worst flight of my life lol.
Toh buss yehi bolna tha. A few words by you can make or break someone's day. 😊 Use them wisely. 📷 @thepmpmom
