We have over 50 people living in our church this week. Two youth groups and their leaders from NC have come to do outreach for our tiny church. I’ve watched as my 14 year old has bravely inserted herself into the group, to participate in their work here. Yesterday morning she was leaving to help them run a children’s sports camp at our community park. At breakfast I heard my words to her in my own heart. My advice was to find the girl that doesn’t have a friend and be her friend.
We have moved 4 times in the last 13 years. If it has taught my girls and I anything, it is the feeling of being the new girl. Introvert or extrovert, it’s never fun to be on the outside looking in. It only takes one kind person to make someone feel like they belong. How about you be that person?
