Kyoto, Japan | Fall has come and gone on my side of Japan and winter is here. 😩 Fukui got its first dusting of snow today, so before I start flooding my instagram with winter snaps, I thought I’d sprinkle a little fall here.
I’ve been incredibly busy these past two months, but I was able to take a three-day holiday about two weeks ago and visit Kyoto for a day to see the “momiji” (changing of leaves). Big mistake because it was the peak of the season, but even with all the crowds, the leaves around Kyoto were beautiful.
We had a great time at our mini ぼうねんかい to celebrate the end of another busy JETAA Wellington year and to catch up with new and old members 🥂🍺🇳🇿🇯🇵The sun even came out for us too!😎🌞 Below are some of our 2018 highlights: ✔️@wellington_japan_festival Stamp Rally💮

Happy Holidays! Hope everyone had a great time at our pub quiz/ gift exchange/ bonenkai. Stayed tuned for more fun events in the new year.
See you all in the year of the pig! .
I did something really scary last week. I went to the abandoned looking house that I always see on my way to the grocery store and took photos along this rusty wall that I’ve been admiring for the past 3 months. It was awkward and embarrassing cause there were people walking and cars driving by, until I realized that they’d probably forget about me within the next second. Also I thrifted my yellow sweater and jeans so it was a good day to celebrate. .
Also did another scary thing this morning. I uploaded my first YouTube video onto my channel, where I’ll be sharing my adventures in Japan and thoughts about... life??!!?
The moral of the story is to not be afraid of what you can do. There’s an endless world of possibilities and I believe in you. .
Link in my bio! Be kind & suggestions welcome. .
lol I ran out of hashtags
First New Year’s mochi of the season and let off work an hour early — not bad for a Wednesday🙂

Special thanks to everyone who went with us to our annual Minoh Fall Hike (紅葉🍁). It was a total blast hiking to the top, enjoying fried maple leaves, and even taking a detour on the way down!
We hope you can join us for our final event of the year, the Katano Sake Brewery Tour and Hike on December 15th. Please check us out on Facebook, follow us on Instagram to keep up to date with the latest news from the prefecture.
See you then!

Thanks @jetaany for starting this national virtual bookclub for all alumni and friends
@victorymaikoford caught this candid moment of me enjoying the leaves at 光明院 (Komyō-in Temple). I was so at peace after a whirlwind weekend I closed my eyes and just...relaxed. Nothing else mattered and no one else existed except for me in that moment. I hadn’t realized how tense my body has been from all of the stress and anxiety from work, the holidays and everything else I currently have on my plate. It was nice to let my mind wander while I listened to the silence. Everything is going to be just fine. #japan#travel#jetprogram#lifeabroad#leafviewing#紅葉#もみじ#kyoto
