How do you measure success in your practice? It depends on what your intention is.
In this recent lesson, I audibly highlighted to @davidcunningham_7 where he needed to pay his attention to in order to be successful. Know your goal in your training to match your attention to your intention. #JohnnyFosterGolf#training#coach#irishgolf
Round of golf on the old in BallyBunion? Why yes of course! Thanks a mill to @brendg12 for having me out today, super fella and golfer to boot - beat me 2&1 knocking birdies in all around the shop! Ballybunion was in super nick considering it’s half way through December. Looking forward to bringing Brendan up to Lahinch to return the favor and also to getting out in BallyBunion next year in the scratch cup 😉

What can we learn from @rorymcilroy? I want you to watch him hit driver after driver on any highlight reel.
What you will notice is that Rory is so DECISIVE in his lead up to hitting the ball. There is no wasted time. This is the case because Rory has made a decision on a club he is fully confident with before he goes through the motions of his pre shot routines.
My rule of thumb is ALWAYS pick conservative targets and make aggressive swings... play the odds to the fats of the fairways and greens. SIMPLE

We got Colin a great result, he went from from 40 yards wide to 10 yards wide, with a much tighter dispersion. ⠀
After a result like that he had to get the clubs built - to help reach that lower handicap goal. ⠀
Due to moving our younger competitors to the back 9 holes we have opened up a couple of spaces in the 8-9 year old category for our upcoming @flogasireland@irishjunioropen Winter Series event on January 3rd at 2 time Irish Open venue @countylouthgolfclub

Grip strength is something often overlooked by golfers. There is evidence that shows correlation between increased grip strength and drive ball speed (Torres-Ronda et al. 2011). Higher level golfers tend to have a stronger grip than lower level golfers. This doesn't mean that the next time you pick up a golf club that you choke it to death. It more than likely means that lower level golfers tend to grip the club with more effort than the higher level golfers, which will be influencing there swings.
Above will you will see an exercise I commonly prescribe to improve grip strength using a barbell, kettlebell and gym band.
Another great way to improve grip strength includes lifting heavy barbell, dumbbells, kettlebells in movements like a double overhand grip, suitcase carries and bottom-up kettlebell presses. .
I would love to hear other exercises you use to improve grip strength!
