These moments right before and after a shot ↠
Where? Is this place okay? Should I turn a little? Wait, that guy on the back is in frame. I don’t know if I want to balance here, there are so many people. Is the light okay? Are you ready? All set? Bleh my hands are dirty. There was a tiny rock underneath my hand that hurt a lot! I’ve got so much sand under my fingernails. Do we have a towel?
And MUCH more! Guess which one this second shot is 😅

Learnt this movement today at @praksiscanberra. I sucked at it on the first round but picked it up over the following 5 minutes. I love it ❤️
Ps. In the cover photo, my legs look like Hot dogs 🌭

Did you know the Sanskrit term for legs up the wall is viparitah karani? Viparitah karani does not translate directly to legs up the wall but instead, attitude reversing posture. I think this is so interesting! Of course we are physically reversing the attitude in which we are oriented to the earth, but with yoga postures, the benefits and meaning are always below the surface. In this posture, we change our very relationship to our world, to our reality. This gives us an opportunity to review how we interact and relate to the world around us, and just maybe change our attitudes about certain things in our lives! As my teacher, Sharon Gannon, says “When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.” -
My inversion workshop is next Wednesday 1/23! We will NOT be doing only handstand for 2 hours, I promise! 🙃 We will also be exploring the benefits of more passive inversions such as child’s pose and legs up the wall.

*HANDSTAND TUCK JUMP* .
I got some great feedback on the under-ten-minute handstand practice I posted on @playbook_app so I posted another 10 minute Tuck Handstand practice! Spoiler 🚨 Alert: We do this drill 🥰 Get your first week for FREE! Click the link in my bio 👆
This drill is to help you find balance while also helping you to stretch your shoulders, back and improve your ankle mobility. .
🤸♀️Grab a block and place it over your belly button like it is a big ol belt buckle. Then squish it between your belly button and your thighs. To hold it there you will need to shorten up your downward facing dog a bit. Spread your shoulder blades and press into your palms. Tilt your sitting bones up as if you had a tail feather that you were lifting up. Then keeping your knees bent and hips lifted, inhale and on the exhale lift your heels and come up high onto the balls of your feet. Try that several times, inhaling and as you exhale lifting onto the balls of your feet. Make sure you didn’t straighten your legs all the way or allow your hips to drop as you lifted and lowered your heels. .
🤸♀️Notice that when you lift onto the balls of your feet your weight shifts into your hands. Now set your block/massive belt buckle off to the side. Press into your palms grounding through your knuckles and fingertips. Keep your arms straight by squeezing your triceps and forearms into the midline. Then inhale and at the bottom of your exhale jump up off the balls of your feet and kick your heels towards your bottom as you pull your knees to your chest. Try recreate the squeeze feeling you had of holding the block between your thighs and your chest by drawing your thighs towards your belly as you kick your heels to your butt. Remember arms straight!!! .

Constantly so grateful for this body of mine. It shows up for me every day, in its own way. There was certainly a time when I didn’t respect this body, and chose to poison it from the inside out. This practice has taught me to be patient with my body, to be kind, and to respect and honour myself exactly where I am. This practice has shown me a new appreciation for movement & health, something that I once took for granted.
Movement is such a gift. So as long as I still can, I will. 🖤
