Please consider urgently taking the following steps to
1. Take your mobile phone and take as many photos/videos of your house NOW as you can, so you can prove the condition of the property before the cyclone strikes. This protects you from dodgy assessors and engineers who will very likely accuse you of poor maintenance, wear & tear issues and say that the damage has nothing to do with the cyclone event.
2. If you choose to stay at home during the event, get as much video evidence (or photos if you can’t video) so you can prove what you are telling them and can overcome their objections when they try to tell you that it wasn’t that bad.
3. It's too late to update your policy now for this event (as most have 3-5 day exclusion period for changes) but it is essential to know what you are covered for.
