Eight out of the 12 #parrot species in India are trafficked. Rose Ringed Parakeets top this dubious chart. Given how commonplace they are, many don't realize it's illegal to own one. They are openly sold in the local marketplace and advertised online as pets. But they are protected by the same Wildlife Protection act that safeguards the tiger.
These #birds are our neighbours, not our prisoners.
Kenora’s doing well! Her same old self, as usual. Her droppings are starting to look a bit better/less watery. She expelled another premature egg today—right on my head. This one was even less than the one at the vet’s; it wasn’t formed completely and was collapsed in on itself. Very thin and rubbery. I wonder if it was kind of stuck in there, and the egg from yesterday started to form beside it or something? She passed both easily so. 🤷🏼♀️ The mentioned she could have some problems with her reproductive system, but hopefully not.
Also, she hates her meds. Really hates them. But I can put them in her beak easier than I could Morty, because she “quacks” and complains so her mouth is open lmao.
Right outside my back door the blue birds have made a nest. There are actually 4 eggs but of course i cant get close too take a good pic. This a zoom of the picture i took originally. I am excited to have babies in the back yard. #mothernature#godscreations#instabirds

Red, the 31 yr old parrot is at Angell Memorial Hospital West in critical care. He had another incident this morning and it was severe. It looks like it was probably his heart. He was found lying still on the bottom of his cage alert but extremely lethargic. I came to help and when I arrived his eyes were missing the Reddy life I always see in them. This was a dire situation and I didnt want to waste time. I had my mom call the vets and wrapped snug in a towel away we went. They were waiting at the door for him. Upon examination they recommended taking him to Angell West. Doctor Noonan was on and he is one of just a hundred board certified aviary specialists in the world. If anyone can give red a fighting chance, it is him. Reddy will stay at least 2 to 3 nights and get the care he needs. Tonight, it is getting his dehydration under control and feeding him wet food to strengthen him for blood work and heart tests tomorrow because in his present state he is too fragile for those things. I love him. I love him dearly and I am praying he makes it. Not for me, but for my mother. She is his primary caretaker of 31 years and her life revolves around his care. Today, April 24th is the 21st anniversary of her mother's (my grandmother) death. She was quick to point this out to me. Also, Sunday, we are supposed to see Cher in concert. She has been looking forward to this event for months and truthfully, doesnt get out enough to enjoy life. I cant help but think what Reddy boy's passing would do to her. I want a miracle and I want the concert to ride the wave of that miracle so if you are so inclined please pray for Red to have more time on this earth for my mother's sake. If there is anyone who deserves a miracle, it is her. Please Red, get better. You can do this. 💕💕🙏🙏 pics: Red receiving oxygen, my mom holding him in car, and me holding and singing to him like I always do to comfort him.
