#art#abstract#digitalart#artmatic#Photoshop#landscape#fall#autumn#horror#dark#grunge#macro#disturbing@redbubble@unsplash#butterfly#flowers#insects#Lovecraft#Weird …the faceted eyes, the waving antennae, the insectile legs, and the weird tongue that coils, uncoils, and sucks… “Lepidoptera” was inspired by China Miéville’s ‘slake-moths’ and H.P. Lovecraft’s ‘Mi-go’, and based on some wonderful stock photos and a tendril-laden fractal texture I created in ArtMatic. “I’ve… seen one of these things feeding…” said Isaac. “I saw it… eat someone’s brain.”
. . . “They draw the dreams out with their wings, flood the mind, break the dykes that hold back hidden thoughts, guilty thoughts, anxieties, delights, dreams…” . . . “And then,” he continued, “when the mind is nice and juicy… they suck it dry. The subconscious is their nectar, Isaac, don’t you see? That is why they only feed on the sentient… Our thoughts ferment like the purest liquor. That is what the slake-moths drink, Isaac. Not the meat-calories slopping about in the brainpan, but the fine wine of sapience and sentience itself, the subconscious. Dreams.” – China Miéville, “Perdido Street Station”

Being a paparazzi to this beautiful Mantis, saw this female mantid (judging by its hairlike antennae, but not really sure, you have to count the segments in its abdomen to be that sure about its gender, thanks google) while filling up with a moth that it just caught.
(All but the last photo are mine) Somewhat sad change of plan. I've unfortunately had to give up on our plan of getting a crested gecko 😞 Unfortunately being disabled, I can't get to a place that sells what we're looking for, & my partner can't leave to pick one up...our second nearest exotics is 90mins away, & I can't be left alone that long. And as my parents are refusing to help by collecting one from a fantastic breeder literally right next to them, we're shit out of luck 😩 So, fuck it. I'm gonna rearrange the enclosure & keep hissers in there. These will be pets &, if they breed well enough, feeders 🙂 These hissers were ones I had back in 2009 😃 The last photo is not my image, but they're red runner cockroaches! These are extremely prolific breeders, & I bought 100 of them online purely to get a feeding colony going. There should hopefully be no way Kai can deplete them 😂
