When the weatherman says "a dusting with little to no accumulation"
It's supposed to snow tonight, tomorrow, and Tuesday. Doesn't really matter since the kiddos are off Mon/Tue of this week anyway and we're still new enough to this that it's exciting.
Watch out for more sledding videos soon!
It’s a winter wonderland here! ⠀
It has been snowing since Sunday and we have not seen the sun in well over a week! ⠀
I get a ton of questions about living in the snow and ice. ⠀
Some of my favorites;⠀
❄️- How do the kids get to school?⠀
❄️- Do your cars work in this?⠀
❄️- how do you get to the cottage?⠀
These questions are funny to me, but I know that some of you truly have no idea what living in this much snow (or any for that matter) must be like! 🥶⠀
Truth is, we are very used to this. It’s snowy here 5-6 months of the year. We know how to drive in it. We have cars that are either all or 4 wheel drive and we put in snow tires in the winter. Its still slippery and you have to drive carefully. We see accidents daily when it’s snowing! ☃️⠀
We shovel our walkways, we snow blow or plow our driveways. We move the snow as we need to so that we can get around. For fun we walk in snow shoes on top of the snow. We ski. We snowmobile. We fish on the lakes when they freeze over. And don’t worry, it’s safe. The ice is about 2’ thick right now. 🐟⠀
When the snow and ice all finally melt in April, the lake levels rise, the creeks and streams run quite rapidly. And the ground is a wet, muddy mess until it’s all gone. 💐⠀
We truly have all four seasons here. And while our winters do get a little long, I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. The snow is beautiful. I’ll take this over the extreme cold any day!! ⠀
What other snow questions do you guys have! I’m happy to answer them!! ❄️☃️❄️
