I mentioned in my last post how much I love visiting smaller, lesser-known towns while traveling, and here’s another one of my favorites: Megalochori in Santorini, Greece! It’s a short drive away from Oia, and central to the island. I love the picturesque village with beautiful bell towers, a quaint central square where the locals gather, pretty little alleys, and even traditional cave homes that you can see! It’s just as charming, but with far less tourists. If you walk west to the chapel Agios Nikolas, you can see amazing views of the Santorini Caldera as well, a submerged, volcanic crater! Since Megalochori is in the heart of the wine industry, you can stop for some wine tasting at all the nearby wineries. My favorite is @venetsanoswinery which has some unbelievable views of the Caldera! I think it’s so important to make time to explore the less-trodden paths, because they may end up being the highlight of your trip! What are some of your favorite discoveries while traveling? I’d love some more travel inspiration! 💙🇬🇷
