📷 Adding to the babies room little by little. This changing basket 😍 from @lambdesignstudio no fear of baby rolling, and it looks great! This will no doubt be kept downstairs and I’ll be changing baby upstairs on the bed - as I did with them all. Keeping everything in here neutral for now!
@lambinspiration have given me a 15% discount code for all of you - use CHERINGTON at checkout x
✨PIVOT DOOR - These AH-MAZING pivot doors are truly NEXT level.
I’ve always loved pivot doors due to their CLEAN lines and GENEROUS opening.
But a quick warning, for everyone’s sake (the kids, your pets and yourself!), I’d go the hydraulic controlled pivot. That’s the mechanism that controls the opening/closing of the door - you can control the speed at which it opens and closes.
Pivot doors swing on a top and bottom point – it’s not held tight like a typical hinged door.
You wouldn’t want your timber pivot door to be any bigger than 1500mm wide and 2400mm high as they’ll start to warp. Depending on the weight of your door, that will also determine the type of pivot ie. standard, heavy duty or commercial.
I’ve always used commercial products. I’d also go for the concealed, overhead, hydraulic door closers to make sure it controls the opening and closing of the door. You wouldn’t want the wind slamming it shut, particularly if you’ve got children.
If you want the door to be weather/wind tight (install a weather stop on the frame and door), you can only have the pivot opening in one direction. Of course, if you love the idea of the door being able to open in both directions, then a weather stop is not an option.
Or do you still prefer the classic hinged door?

Love my new front door handle so much it was enough to make me track down my Instagram login. So heavy I could barely hold it up with hand long enough to take the photo. 🤳🏼💪🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Plastering should be finished this week and painters starting! Still waiting on 2 louvre windows to be installed then all the glazing is done. Taz and I have been oiling cladding every spare minute we have, will be worth it when it’s done!
Hello new fencing materials, please be secure enough to keep out the wily sheep that keep sneaking back on site and annoying our tradesmen! 🙏🏻🐑🐏 Anyone else feel completely overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done? You know that saying “it’s a marathon, not a sprint”? Well, think of building a house as several consecutive marathons and expect to hit more than a few “walls” along the way. I say this like I know what I’m talking about but we’re not even nearly finished yet, so what does that tell you 🙈🤣 Feeling a bit panicky over here as there are sooo many decisions to be made but we’ve not been able to look at house stuff for a few days and now it’s not even 8pm and I just want to go to bed. Who am I kidding...I AM going to bed! 👋🏻 Research can continue during the night feeds - ps why is the baby still waking several times at 6mo, I don’t remember it being this hard last time 😴😴😴 #selfcare#mumlife#sitegoals#viewfromthetop#build#newbuild#selfbuild#selfbuildscotland#housebuild#newhouse#home#newhome#instahome#scenery#visitscotland#hebrides
Looking up into what was the loft.... Our dream home is right in the middle of being a huge work in progress and it feels like we may live in the caravan for many years to come! I'm hoping that in a month or so it will feel more like a reality that we may actually live in it! #homemakeover#housegoals#housebuild#thebigbuild#familyhome
The big move is now only 9 days away!!😱😱 Feelings of sadness leaving Bodafors mixed with excitement starting something brand new!! #housebuild#lakeview
Excuse the radio silence over here, I have given into a horrid flu and am desperately wishing it away so I can get on with the endless list of things I need to do for the house. I am not very good at sitting still and don’t think I have since we started the house back in February (god that feels like ages ago now!) This flu is probably my bodies way of telling me you’re exhausted so relax and stop stressing about finding the perfect bathroom floor🙄 I am obviously lying in bed watching house programmes and reading my stack of interior magazines I have waiting for me! Anybody else guilty of not switching off? Totally unrelated but nonetheless beautiful tablescape from our visit to @neptunehomeofficial last week 🍁
A while back we went for a viewing of this house and it still hasn’t left my mind! It’s the exact interior style that I want to hopefully go for in our house. This country, equestrian style is my absolute favourite and I love how it ties in so seamlessly and remains classy. Hats off to the team at @venturainteriordesign for designing this interior space. Really took my breath away 😍🐎💨 Absolutely jealous of those who get to walk through these double doors every day and call it home!!
Quick update! There hasn’t been work over the past few days as the builders are waiting on a beam to arrive in order to start the second floor 😩😩 but thankfully the exterior and interior walls are complete!!
This evening we tore up the black plastic in the living level, cleaned the subfloor (don't even want to share how many pounds of dirt we've removed this week in total) and laid down a layer of contractor paper. It looks and feels SO much better! Still gonna get dirty but should be easier to clean. We worked well into the night in our almost dried in house with Jack Johnson keeping us company... for the first time we feel what it might be like to live in our house. We may BEGIN moving in sooner than we think... having windows (and soon) doors on will transform our lives forever! #constructionlife#dreamhouse#timberframe#homebuild#homebuilding#housebuild#housebuilding#newhouse
