I absolutely love the way this edit turned out. The photo itself is so beautiful because the memories it brings about. Such a difficult journey to get there, but man was it so worth it. I’m excited for the next adventure with hardship.

Klischee Dschungel/Poolbild.
Jahtera is a really friendly and caring guy with a nice family and a funny, yet shy, nephew.
He showed me a lot of great local food. We went to the base of mount #sibayak together and after i finished my #hiking, we walked to the #hotsprings and relaxed there.
Jahtera is able to give a lot of insight to his #culture and at the same time is very interested in learning more about other countries and cultures.
He also gave me a lot of information both about the public transport to kabanjahe as well as away from it, which was very helpful.
All in all, i had a great time with jahtera and couldnt have had a better first #experience with #couchsurfing.
Terima kasih Jahtera! @couchsurfing

When I first moved out on my own, away from living with my parents, in university housing or with roommates, I was gifted with the most wonderful neighbour, a Danish Geologist named Jeppe. Upon learning this about him I would periodically knock on his door loaded with a plate of fresh baked cookies and a handful of questions about rocks (or glaciers or mountains or hot springs or simply a general lack of understanding about the planet that we live on…). He would laugh and indulge me in my curiosities. After a few of these encounters he preemptively stopped by one evening with one of his undergraduate textbooks (thankfully in English). I spent the following few weeks worth of lunch breaks and evenings trying to wrap my head around as much as I could and formulating a list of (slightly less elementary) questions. Before long we were back to our cookie for knowledge bartering system. I look back on this time in my life as a turning point, where my relationship with the mountains changed from an admiration to a curiosity. I think that the more we know about the earth the more we can (and want to) care for and fight to protect it. #thankyoujeppe#pleasemoveback

Seljavallalaug is Icelands oldest pool, and it’s located in a beautiful valley. It was a magical experience to swim around in the warm water with such beautiful surroundings. ✨
