And sometimes the day is different than you think so #homeschool lessons happen late at night. School hours vary based on life these days. The year is almost done. The video lessons have been an interesting addition this year. We won’t continue them next year, but there have been times they have been handy. Grateful for the chance to use them. We’ve learned a lot about our school style this year, and how we prefer to school in our home. #theendisinsight#simpleliving

Stepped outside twice and saw this random grass on the ground and thought the kids were making a mess. Then I look up and noticed that we have #newneighbors I think its a #robbinsnest ..the kids are so excited to see them hatch
It's our new #observation only #science topic throughout the day. Pretty great because my oldest are learning about the #lifecycles of plants and animals! Every minute can be #fulloflearning when you #Homeschool !
I was wondering why I bought this book if it only has 6 sentences. My Jonah, who at 6 years old could not read, even at the end of his kindergarten year, picked it up. For the first time ever, he saw words and recognized them as something he could understand! He read every word, only asking for help with ONE. He then got excited and said, "Can I get another book to read?" Well, YEAH!
My boy is now reading Green Eggs and Ham with CONFIDENCE by CHOICE after 6 weeks of homeschool 3 days a week and as much recess as he needs. Praise God, my baby can read❤ #Homeschool#Kindergarten#Reader#AllAboutSpelling#NowImReading#ProudMomma#WhenYoureCalledYoureCalled
Gorgeous smoothie from @gatherandfeast it’s got my favourite ingredient of the week.. pitaya! You can head to her feed for the recipe 😍 We make a smoothie every morning and freeze the left overs inside our Little Mashies reusable squeeze pouches. Lately we have been adding partially hydrolysed guar gum to our smoothies as it is awesome for promoting good gut health by increasing the diversity of microbes 🤗 Our latest blog is 5 easy steps to good digestive health 👏🏼 If you sign up to our newsletter or download our free recipe book the blog link will come soon after xoxo
Tonight we shared cotton candy with the kids at Main Street Baptist Church in Bartow. I got to talk to the kids about my previous and upcoming missions trips to Honduras. It was fun! Thank you for supporting us, Main Street Baptist! // We head back to Honduras in July! Book us for your special event to help us get there!
As a #dyslexic or a non traditional learner, what ideas or right or wrong, successful or not successful, smart or not smart, lazy or industrious, have you had to let go of in order to step into your truest growth. ( or ideas around your parenting ?) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✏Brilliant doodle via @seaniedraws
Our little sun’rae’. This girl really believes if she sings and dances it will make the clouds go away and the sun come out, so we told her to go for it! Us Floridians want beach weather for the holiday weekend, not a tropical depression ⛈ .

A friend and I were having a heart to heart today (much needed) and we started talking about being in photos. How sometime us mamas can be the “picture takers” (thousands of pictures amiright?) and somehow end up in only a few. Yes husbands can be less inclined to take photos, but sometimes I just don’t feel like being in the picture. I’m a behind the scenes girl. I’m there, I laughed, and adventured. But I’m awkward and photos make me feel more awkward!! Is it only me?? Well, I read a story about a mama who got really sick, she thought she might not live, and was putting together an album and writing letters to her family, only, she was in very few photos. Her challenge to us mamas was be there! Not just present in the Moments but say yes to the pictures. Don’t duck and hide behind a tree (guilty🙋🏼♀️) Just smile and be in photos so your kids can look back and you can look back! I look at photos of my mom with us when we were little and never think “she has no makeup on” I always think she looks beautiful. (Even with her halters and 80’s hair... you know the photo I’m talking about mom;) She is there. Beautiful and smiling.
I don’t know when we started getting camera shy? Maybe it is the technology of being able to see them right after you take them and I don’t think I’m the only one who is my own worst critic!! My husband must have felt this whole conversation in his heart today because I certainly didn’t tell him what Abby and I had talked about. But on our family walk tonight after dinner he snapped some of pics of me being there, enjoying our kids, and I’m so glad I didn’t hide behind the tree!! 🌲
Creek life✌🏼🏖these kiddos are living their best life in the creek. Swimming fully under the water (😬), finding baby turtles and snakes 🐍🐢, pretending to forage for food and refusing all modern day comforts (the girls literally bring bread, butter, tinned fish, jam...only things that they say were available “long ago” so they can pretend they are living off the land), rolling around in mud. I mean it’s a dream for them! And I 🖤their imaginations so much!
I have a little surprise. Ready for it? .
The shop is now open for PIY (print it yourself) products 🙊 Why do I love the ability for you to go ahead and download the files yourself to print them locally? 🌿 1) It's earth-friendly. No paper that has to be sent here to Toronto and then to you. No need for fuel to be used to transport your package and no shipment packaging which means no plastic. And 2) you support your local print shop and locally sourced paper. High five 🙌🏼 And don't be afraid to explain that to your littles too - they will find it so cool that you are challenging consumerism and joining a movement where we don't need to create waste in order to learn, grow and make beautiful lives for ourselves 🌿
My goal was to have PIY products ready to purchase and download + pre-orders for physical goods ready by the end of May. I may just hit that you guys 🙌🏼
Thank you to everyone who has signed up to my shop's mailing list over the past year as I prepared to reopen - every sign up has been a little love tap on the behind to stay focused and push forward. I'll be sending out the first newsletter along with a few free treats next week 💌 Woohoo! ✌🏼 #smallshoplife#naptimehustle
Thankful for another year of life. There is so much my heart is grateful for, I really don’t know where to begin. I had a conversation recently with a woman who mentioned that life is filled with so much pain and injustice, although that is true...it’s also true that life is filled with joy and goodness as well. Today I’m thankful for both, the hard times which teach me so much, as well as all the happy moment! I’m also beyond grateful for all my friends, including those I met here on IG ❤️ You all mean a lot to me, thank you for your friendship, inspiration, and motivation. #happy31stbirthday
•a man who thought way outside of the box, cared more about breaking down the laws of physics in the universe than fitting in, and laid the ground work for the technology we all use today•
This kid pulled of some serious research about this complicated man. I’m so very proud of him! #homeschool#alberteinstein#bjjkids#peaklearningcenter

Continuing our study on the first people with loom weaving. Perfect for these two little makers (who take after their mama, and my mama before me who does this kind of thing for a living). My oldest is not so much into art or handicrafts, but I will keep trying. 😉 #schoolhousemack2018#homeschool#weaving#handicrafts#loom

I feel like we’re really in between books right now - both for myself and the kids. We finished the 3 books currently in The Green Ember Series and just kind of feel not ready to move on… can you relate to that feeling? Like you get so absorbed in that world that you don’t feel ready to jump into another?
Personally I’m just starting God Secrets by Shawn Bolz, just finishing Stronger than the Struggle by Havilah Cunnington and also just finished a nice quick fiction read by Francine Rivers. .
We’re enjoying some great picture books like “Bees The Honeyed History”, “This is How We Do It” and I’m browsing through Maker Lab books and edible science experiments. .
We are looking for another great novel to start as a read aloud so let me know your favourites! My kids are 8 and 10 ;). #homeschool#reading#booklover@intentionalhomeschooling#intentionalhomeschooling#willmsgroveelementary1718#willmsgroveelementary#weread
Today was a good one. 💜💜💜

After a week of learning a verse, my boys usually recognize each card by its background since they can’t read yet. It’s cool how the mind works! They can’t read, but associate these red triangles with Romans 12:21 and the song we made up to memorize the verse. I’ve always been a visual learner myself and I love that each of these watercolor backgrounds also helps the kids learn God’s word! Tap the photo to shop the set of 52 cards for your family!

My school aged kids have all been taking an art class down the street from another artistic homeschool mom. They all have been loving it, and have made such great improvements! Talya is in her element! She loves arts and crafts! She did a great job drawing this Apple! #homeschool#artistsoninstagram#talyajolene
Watching "Wild Kratts Shark-Tastic" as part of our ongoing shark study. It talks about shark conservation and even shark fin soup, which is a major problem contributing to depopulation of sharks. Check out @oneoceandiving@oneoceaneducation@oceanramsey to learn more about how you can protect sharks. Simple things like using a reusable water bottle or checking your sunscreen ingredients can really make a difference for the health of our ocean! 🌎🦈❤🤙

Officially LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! 🎉 We’ve grown and learned so much this school year. About each other. About ourselves. Our limits. Our strengths. How to push each others buttons 😝 It’s been the MOST chaotic and exhausting year of my life, but also the greatest because I feel a sense of completeness with all my girls! This first year of our homeschool journey has brought us closer than ever and that in itself confirms that we are on the right path for our family. She loves to learn! She’s passionate. She’s curious and such a sweet gentle soul, Emma my darling, I couldn’t be more proud to be your mama!
The trees are blooming and our yard is abuzz🌸🍃 ...and when one lonely bee follows you inside, you carefully capture it, pull out a few resources, and prepare for observations + a little nature study to change your plans in the best of ways. Over the past few days we’ve read + researched, sketched + painted, cut + rolled tiny beehive candles and enjoyed a little tea with raw honey — which could almost be considered a staple here. Really, just spent time marvelling at all these amazing creatures do for our planet🐝🌎✨
Books- The Life and Time of the Honeybee (Micucci), The Honey Makers (Gibbons), The Bee Tree (Polacco), Nature Anatomy (Rothman)
Cards- 100 Things to Spot in the Garden (Usborne)

And this is the reason I feel so privelaged to be a teacher.
Guiding children to build skills for thinking is the most profound thing! What they think is important... but HOW they think is the real golden ticket to opportunity and success.
What do you think about this quote? How does it make you feel?? I've tagged just a few of my fellow educators for their input too!!

Lemonade Sensory Bin 🍋 Need some fun, outdoor play ideas? This was a such a hit and it encouraged so much imaginative play! We made a lemonade sensory bin, but didn’t want the bees 🐝, so I simply used yellow food coloring and water. We also put in our assorted colors of reusable plastic ice cubes! This was the best part (I found these for $1 at Target). Also set out for play: plastic drinking jars, large spoon, slotted spoon, fine motor tools. See my stories today for more of the fun. #littleoneslearn
