When I was little, we used to get a professional family portrait done with all relatives around new year time. We always gathered at grandparents’s house first, then everyone started preparing our festival feast while chatting about achievements, plans and wishes. After meal, everyone felt they were too full to move, then we just knew it’s the time to get ready for the photo studio. So we always took our time and walked to the studio in the cold (sometimes in the snow). It was lots of hassle deciding what to wear, how to pose, how to make everyone give the best smile at once with no closed eyes. It was really sweet, and moments like that are just priceless! We visited #gyeongbokgung on the New Year’s Day 2019, there were many dressed up in Korean traditional attire for family photos. It was maybe around minus 12 degrees that day, but none of them minded the cold weather. #itsthebest#holidaylove#holidayphotos#travelstories#hometime#travelseoul#travelphotography#seoul#southkorea#familyphotography#familypictures#familyportraits#justsweet#pricelessmoments#holidaymemories
So I was looking for photos (or at least the hard drive with all my memories saved in digital) for the #10yearchallenge but then stumbled upon these actual physical photos from 20 years ago, in the era when you had to take a photo with an actual camera, wait 2 weeks in anticipation whilst they are being developed and before you can see what you've actually shot.
I'm nearing a milestone this year and these photos were taken when I was 20 (you can do the maths!), before the days of children and responsibility and when my make up routine consisted of a swipe of lip gloss only. I was on holiday in Miami South Beach getting over the love of my life. Hard times... can you tell, thankfully my sister was there to cheer me up.
The first photo was taken on the night of arriving. It was very hot and muggy and think that is definitely captured in the photo. The second was a morning when we set the alarm at at a ridiculously early hour to catch sunrise and remember it was so worth the sleep deprivation.
I recall my sister saying that you should take loads of photos when you're young, when arguably, you look your best. For me, I hardly ever took photos, well certainly not of people not least myself, but I'm thankful my sister took these as I can now say "that was me once" with pride!
Fashion note, I've said it recently and I'll say it again... light flare boot cut hipster (low rise) jeans are the most flattering for all body shapes. I've detested the skinny jeans look for forever! This pair was from Miss Selfridge and cheap as chips. The bandeau top, which I still own, was a purchase that same day at a boutique off Collins Avenue. I remember it so clearly as my credit card was rejected and had to pay cash! Oops. The turn of the century was definitely my time!

Still daydreaming about this magical, memorable night with my girls at #enchantedforestoflight. Sigh.
EXACTLY 3 months before the next holidays. "Digamos que el tiempo pasa y yo lo siento en la saliva,
cada vez más espesa.
Tendría que preguntarle a la conciencia cuántos
reproches me reserva.
Basta." Mario Benedetti “Vivir adrede"
