As we enter the final turn of the brutal meatgrinder game, it's been made clear that this would be a true brawl. On the defending side, the Cadian regiment is all but wiped out, with horrendous casualties among the Imperial Fists as well, bringing the plight of the Imperium into dangerous territory. The endless tide of Hive Fleet Kraken cannot be stopped, but the Imperial forces should ultimately win the day - if only a pyrrhic victory. Pictured here are the remnants of Chapter Master Vorn Hagan's command position, (the failing void-shield generator a final anchor in the crumbling defenses) with monstrous bio-titans and beasts larger than battle tanks scrambling up the cathedral walls. This world will remain in Imperial hands, but is rendered useless from the absolute destruction the campaign has wrought. Stupid iPhone cropping my movie makes it look like ass.
The siege of Samaria Part 5-1500 pts "Sabotage" mission
After his army got ambushed and routed, Ragnar realized that without extraplanetary help, defeat was certain, thus ordered his remaining forces to fall back at their initial landing spot.
Upon arriving on the desert swamp of Golgotha, the Marines fortified their position around a communication pod -sole link to their Battle Barge in orbit. While trying to establish a connection and request reinforcements, the swarm arrived.
Tyranids did not lost any time, advancing first through the mud. Gaunt hordes hurled themselves towards the top of the hill, the Hive Mind sensing the radiofrequencies emitted and attempting to stop it's enemies. Hundreds of lesser creatures swallowed the unlucky first warriors they encountered, their bodies drowning in a wave of aliens which crushed on the hill.
Despite its ferocity, the Swarm was halted before the Marines' position. Ragnar's Wulfen bodyguard fought and fell in front of the pod, buying time and reaping a heavy toll on the xenos, bringing down the Tyranid Warlord. As fast as it had reached the imperial lines, the Tyranid wave crushed and withdrew against the might of two Dreadnoughts, which scattered the Tyranids, slaying most of the disoriented beasts.
Grendel had failed to deliver the killing blow to its enemies and reinforcements were on the way. Samaria was not yet lost.
The Martyrdom of Praxedes
Saint Praxedes of Ophelia VII was an Adepta Sororitas Canoness of the Order of Our Martyred Lady and renowned hero of the Imperium of Man's Ultima Segmentum during the Second Tyrannic War. She was martyred upon the Cardinal World of Okassis after leading a valiant defence against the encroaching Tyranid menace.
Saint Praxedes lead the Adeptus Soritas forces to reinforce the Regiments of the Imperial Guard serving the Cardinal World of Okassis, soon after the start of the Second Tyrannic War. As the Tyranids of Hive Fleet Kraken assaulted the Ecclesiarchal Cathedral, the combined fire of the Order's Retributor Squads and Exorcist tanks obliterated the first wave of Tyranid biomorphs, but the second managed to breach the fortress-walls of the cathedral.
As Tyranids poured through, Praxedes confronted a Hive Tyrant. During the fighting the Canoness was dealt a mortal wound, but even as her blood ebbed away, she summoned the strength to land a final blow, caving in the hideous beast's skull with a thunderous strike from her Power Mace. With the Tyrant's destruction, the swarm lost all connection to the Hive Mind and thus all direction, with the biomorphs turning on one another in a cannibalistic rage. The Sisters of Our Martyred Lady wasted no time in pressing the assault, determined to avenge the death of their beloved Canoness. The remaining xenos were swept aside, buying enough time to evacuate the Ecclesiarchy's remaining priests before the Tyranids launched their next wave of attacks.
Praxedes was the first Imperial to be martyred during the attack of Hive Fleet Kraken and her name is revered all across the Segmentum Ultima. Some claim that she yet lives, fighting on against the dreaded hordes of the Tyranids from within their swarm.
