Fuck the system. NEVER EVER trust public defenders aka 'public pretenders'. I'm currently paying for making this very mistake... It's too long a story to go into much detail, but if you can always hire a private attorney. My public pretender told me that pleading not guilty was an option but that if I did so, I'd spend at least 2 years in federal prison fighting my case and that all the prosecution had to do was convince a jury that I was using marijuana in September 2017 when I filled out the ATF paperwork for a private party transfer of a firearm that I received as a gift & already owned for years but had never bothered to put in my name and ironically decided to do so while I unfortunately happened to be under federal investigation for other accusations that ended up being false. Since the ATF had already raided my house and seized my firearms & marijuana, they decided to blow my doors down with explosives and arrest me after a private attorney I hired successfully negotiated for me to get my seized firearms back legally through the court because the ATF "didn't want a medical marijuana patient to be in possession of any firearms". While I was in prison with my bail denied by the judge, my public pretender told me that if the jury found me guilty of using marijuana when I filled that paperwork out my sentence would be between 18 to 60 months with a max of 10 years in prison. Furthermore, he said I had virtually no chance of winning because I had a medical marijuana card and because I posted marijuana on my Instagram feed during the month in question. He said that unless the judge threw my case out for being petty and a waste of the court's time, I'd probably be found guilty based on prior federal marijuana case law precedent. Therefore, he said my best chance was to plead guilty to felony providing false information on a federal form in acquisition of a firearm. Unfortunately for me, I didn't have the opportunity nor the support from family I needed to hire a private attorney while I was incarcerated.

Fuck the system and anti-marijuana laws. Medical marijuana patients should not be prohibited from legally owning firearms in the United States, it's no different than legally owning guns while having a prescription for anxiety meds or if you fucking drink alcohol. If you disagree like some Jeff Sessions type moron, leave a like & then leave your nonsense opinion in the comments. Lastly, fuck everyone in a position with a platform to help shed light on our government screwing over medical marijuana patients like this, especially those who I reached out to and who straight up don't give a shit.
Even though I never threatened anyone online or in real life and the accusations against me turned out to all be falsely made by a mentally disturbed stalker that knows me irl, the ATF still had to investigate me because of the accusation and hence the marijuana while owning firearms problem culminating with me unjustly doing 4 months in federal prison on felony "providing false information on a federal form in acquisition of a firearm" charges. I guess fuck me for posting weed on Instagram right?
