Have you ever wondered why the leaner you get, the harder it is for you to continue dieting? You just feel more sluggish and hungrier, each and every day.
It’s like you hit “a wall” you can’t go past, and it’s so frustrating.
What if I told you that it is your body trying to “fight” against your desire to burn stored energy just for aesthetic purposes?!
Our bodies are perfect fat storing machines and it makes perfect sense from a survival standpoint. It works amazingly when it knows it has enough stored energy for you to survive, while it switch into “I-need-food” mode once that energy is getting used. Especially when getting very lean.
For you to get shredded it means to approach extremely low levels of bodyfat, which is “danger zone” for your brain, which doesn’t really like the idea of giving up those fat stores. -
All of us have a bodyfat set point, which is around 12-15% for men and 20-24% for women, which is where most people typically feel their best. -
That because enough Leptin is produced at that bodyfat %, so you feel full and energized everyday. -
As soon as you start moving away from your bodyfat set point, therefore losing bodyfat, Leptin production starts becoming less.. and less.. your brain doesn’t receive the amount of Leptin “signal” it was used to get, so it decides to increase hunger and decrease energy expenditure. Ain’t it amazing? -
It’s basically preventing us from dying, whether you like it or not. 🤷🏻♂️

Pan-fried tofu + quinoa + carrots + lettuce + homemade ranch dressing (added after this photo was taken) 🌿 Building a wholesome, balanced meal is easy when you find the “blocks” that work for you. Maybe these are high fat, low carb; plant-based; vegan; or simply whole foods. At the end of the day, it’s about listening to your body and finding joy in becoming your healthiest you ☺️
I had leftover @lotusfoods jasmine rice, baby bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, and very little time so what else could I think to make but this go-to dish. I will get creative another time—when I have more time😂. At the request of some from my instastory post, I will re-share the recipe below. Bookmark it, try it, and come back and comment on how good it was (because I’m confident you will agree with us😉). If you have any other fav uses for shiitakes and/or bok choy, I’d love to here your fresh ideas too!
Bok Choy and Shiitake Curry
3 baby bok choy, cut in half
1 can lite coconut milk
2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp fresh ginger, chopped
1 heaping tsp chili paste
1 tbs coconut aminos
1 tbs maple syrup
8 oz shiitake mushrooms, de-stemmed and sliced
Juice of half a lime
Place cut bok choy cut side down in a sauce pan over medium heat. As bok choy starts to brown after about 5 minutes, add coconut milk, turmeric, chili paste, coconut aminos, and maple syrup. Simmer for about 6 minutes. Add shiitakes and continue simmering for 6 more minutes. Add lime juice and serve hot over rice topped with fresh cilantro. Season with more salt if needed to your taste. Enjoy!

Giant fresh tomatoes have stolen my heart 😍 I’ve been eating them plain with a little bit of pink Himalayan salt sprinkled on top 😋 Added them in to an easy salmon bowl for lunch today 👌🏻 I used my cast iron grill skillet to make some 6 min salmon and sautéed some zucchini and mushrooms to go with it 💃🏼 Paired it with the other half of my avocado from breakfast and leftover quinoa 🙌🏻 Star of the show was definitely the fresh tomato from the local produce stand in town 🙆🏼♀️ I bought some watermelon from there too and it was soooo fresh and delicious!! Gimme all the summertime food plz 🌽🍅🍉🍎 I’m off to meet a friend for a spin class 🚴🏼♀️ I’ve only been to one but I loved it so I’m excited to try it out again!! From the background of this picture you can clearly see that tuhday was A DAY!!!! But instead of eating five bowls of Reece’s Puffs like I wanted to, I chowed down on some sweet potatoe crackers from Trader Joe’s and low fat cottage cheese. It’s one of my favorite snacks!!!
