Health agencies around the world have begun putting out strong messages to limit sugar intake. What are they saying? Should you believe them?
I never take nutritional advice at face value, especially before sharing with others. Thus, I've buried myself in 200+ page reports on sugars and health in order understand the advice at a deeper level - the rationale and the evidence behind them.
My number one message is that the form, or context, of the sugars in your food matters as much, or more, than the type of sugar. The sugars in fruits and veggies are ultimately the same as those in sodas: both roughly 50% glucose and 50% fructose (give or take 5%). Yet, sugars eaten as part of a whole fruit or veggie are ASSOCIATED with health benefits, while those in the context of a sugar-sweetened beverages are ASSOCIATED with poor health. There is debate about 100% juice and purees, but we will discuss this later.
We'll talk more later about which forms (contexts) of sugars 'count' and why. Let's start with some numbers so that you can start to get a sense of how much added sugar is a lot versus negligible.
The strictest recommendations are from the United Kingdom - who advise no more than 5% of calories from FREE sugars. For me and my son, that means about 23 grams of sugar per day (about 6 teaspoons) assuming an intake of 1800 calories.
The US Dietary Advisory Group and the World Health Organization came out with slightly "looser" guidelines at about 10% of calories from ADDED (US) or FREE sugars (WHO). The WHO, did, however say that 5% would be preferable, but worried it was unrealistic. This translates to 46 grams of sugar per day (about 11 teaspoons) assuming a daily intake of 1800 calories.
The best way to gauge sugar intake is to read labels when you buy packaged food, and to use an app like @myfitnesspal when you order drinks at a chain coffee shop. Sugar sweetened beverages tend to be our biggest downfall so if you do one thing to raise your sugar IQ, start here. Note - the sugars in (unsweetened) dairy milk don't 'count'.

I started #ballet when I was 4 years old.
My mum put my hair up in a chignon & handwashed my thights and bodysuit every day.
I didn't understand why my teacher was so strict, i couldn't smile and laugh with my friends during the class, I couldn't stop #dancing if I had blood on my feet, I couldn't put on weight as #ballerinas have to be on shape.
After school I went to #ballet and my friends went out for fun.
I couldn't understand.
Now I am #grateful.
I learnt #discipline, i learnt #sacrifices, i learnt to show my real feelings only to who really deserve them, I learnt how to be #elegant but #strong at the same time, I learnt that everything #hard and difficult teaches you something forever.
One more day until Thanksgiving! 🙏🏼🦃 So ofc I decided to try and be healthy in preparation 😁 I tried a new place near my work - yum! 😛 My pizza was house pizza sauce 🍅 + mozz & fontina 🧀 + cherry tomatoes + basil and arugula 🌿 with basil pesto 😍 I also got some fresh pressed juice - mango 🥭 + kale 🥬 + apple 🍎

—-> I don’t typically do too many black and white photos but I felt this one screamed for it. After all, black and white photos are the ONLY way my chicken legs will look semi decent 😅. ANOTHER brutal session and everytime I face legs, they always seem to win. But that just means I need to work harder and harder each time. I’ve come a long way on my legs, why stop now 🤷🏻♂️. Burritos De Pollo Y Aguacate

HOW TO GET RID OF WATER RETENTION & BLOATING ? 💦❌
We all know the basics factors that cause water retension too much salt, the heat, eating processed food, standing straight for too long, ... But there is so much more unknowing factors! .
❌MALNUTRITION & BAD DIET : we all know that overweight people are more likely to suffer from water retention. But overweight people tend to go on a low-calorie diet. A low-calorie diet will unfortunately not get rid of water retention - it can actually make it worse, especially if you eat less than 1,200kc a day for months (what happen for anorexic) It’s because you not have enough protein in your to draw excess water out of your tissues. This cause generalized puffiness and a swollen tummy (You know this enlarged abdomen of someone who starving!)
❌ALLERGIES & FOOD INTOLERANCE (often lactose)
❌HORMONAL IMBALANCE : especially disorder of the thyroid gland (goes along with not eating enough or out of balance) .
❌WASTES & TOXINS: metabolic wastes and toxins (such as pesticides) which the body cannot easily release tend to be stored in what you called "cellulite" .
❌OVER EXERCISING or the opposite, NOT MOVING ENOUGH: this can cause a type of water retention known as lymphedema, you are hardly able to drain excess fluid out of your tissues. .
✅BUT there are a few ways to get ride of water retention through the diet ! By finding a good balance of the 3 macros, checking your salt intake, adjusting your calories based on your individual needs ! Eat SMART ! Not less ! Same with exercises ! ☝🏼

Ich hab heute meine Mutti 👵🏻 besucht, der geht’s soweit gut. 👍🏼 Wir waren auch lecker zusammen Mittagessen 🍽 und leider hat sich da der Akku schon verabschiedet 😭😭, weshalb ich von meinem grandiosen Schnitzel kein Foto machen konnte 😐😱

Ich bin ja schon voll im Weihnachtsfieber, von daher schadet so ein kleines Nussecken Rezept nicht, denke ich mal 😉
Rezept für Marzipan Nussecken 🎅🏼
1/2 TL Backpulver
1 Prise Salz
2 EL Amaretto
400g Haselnüsse, gemahlen
100g Creme fraiche
2 Päckchen Vanillezucker
1-2 Päckchen Kuvertüre, halbbitter
• Aus Mehl, Backpulver, 60 g Zucker, Salz, Ei und 125 g kalter Butter einen Teig herstellen, 30 Min in Frischhaltefolie im Kühlschrank ruhen lassen
• In eine Schüssel Marzipan reiben, Amaretto & Nüsse dazugeben
• In einem Topf 125g Butter schmelzen, dann Creme fraiche, 250g Zucker & Vanillezucker unterrühren, 1x aufkochen, Masse mit den Nüssen & Co mischen
• Backblech fetten
• Teig ausrollen und auf dem Blech andrücken, Nussmischung obendrüber gleichmäßig verteilen, für 20-25 Min bei 150 Grad Umluft backen
• Abkühlen lassen, in gewünschte Nusseckengröße schneiden, mit Kuvertüre verzieren
