Let's talk about realistic, achievable goals & slow progress towards those goals.
I've been relatively fit for the past 3 years. I hit my goal weight in 2015, & at the most, have put 10lbs more on at various times during those 3 years. This past summer I was exercising, but not making healthy food choices. I gained almost 8lbs.
In August I set a realistic goal for myself. I wanted to lose the 8lbs by my 45th Birthday in November. I could have easily gone on a fad diet, cut out carbs and sugar, meal fasted, or done Keto and seen much faster results. What I have found over the years is that a quick fix just doesn't work for me. I want to adopt a lifelong healthy lifestyle & none of the weight loss strategies I mention will work for me long term. That doesn't mean those strategies aren't right for other people, they just aren't right for me.
These photos were taken a month & a half apart. Is there a drastic difference NO, but is there a difference, YES!!! I can see a slightly smaller waist & thighs. The change is subtle, but it's there and I am totally ok with that. I'm down a total of 5.8lbs & I feel stronger!! Hopefully I will meet my goal by next month. .
When trying to live a more healthy lifestyle (or do anything else in life) it is important to set realistic, achievable goals. Write that goal down & when you achieve it, set another one. Try not to get discouraged by a slow moving scale, someone else's quick success, or falling off the wagon. You can always regroup & start again tomorrow. Remember the tortoise BEAT the hare!!

In our busy world of balancing work and family life, squeezing in some "me" time is not easy. Swimming, biking and running is time for myself. It is not easy to wake up early on rest days to train as it will require lots of discipline, focus and mental conditioning. I just pray that after putting in the hard work, it will pay off on race day. Sometimes it's really hard to make the time, but if you want it bad enough and it's important to you... you'll find the time.
