Really needed to get back in the game with my yoga practice. I did classes, lot of home practice (with Adriene ;)) and I guess I got bored so I stopped doing it. .
But my body and my head always thank me for doing yoga. And I sort of missed it. So when I came across a pilot for a 3 week online yoga series, I was sold. .
We just finished week one. And I’m happy to be back. .
You don’t need to go to the gym to exercise. There are so many other options out there. Like biking, zumba, swimming, kickboxing, pilates. You name it. Just find something that you like doing so you actually will do it. .
Because exercise is a great way to come back into our bodies for one. .

I could of given a number of clients the spotlight this week but this guy 100% deserves the recognition!
Progress: Sam has gone from 0-100 in every aspect of his training since we started almost 2 years ago, but this week it was especially pleasing to see him achieve a 100KG BACK SQUAT 🔥
Consistency: Not only has Sam trained with me week in week out for almost 2 years he’s just made further investment in his himself by joining the “6 weeks of Shredmas” program.
Effort/ Attitude: It’s not that he just puts 100% effort into training, he really buys into my coaching, listens, learns & applies everything I throw at him. This became apparent today when in a semi-private personal training session he was helping the others with their technique 💪
Keep up the great work @samallary1 an absolute pleasure to work with.

After sharing my video on my 3 egg breakfast a couple of days ago, I was chuffed to get this pic of what my son cooked for his dinner last night. ❤️
Max is in his final year of uni and wowed his housemates by knocking up a delicious shakshuka for himself, with his own recipe of onion, garlic, tomatoes, red peppers, mushrooms, paprika, chilli, cumin...and of course the 3 eggs. (Check out @ottolenghi for another great shakshuka recipe). 🌶
It can be a challenge to eat healthily on a student budget - but eggs are cheap, massively nutritious and super quick to cook.
Max has also discovered he can buy a whole bag of sardines (another brilliant source of healthy fats and protein) very cheaply and he fries these and tops with fresh lemon and salt.
I genuinely believe that being able to cook from scratch (and understand what makes a healthy meal) is one of the most important skills any young person can learn.
Facts? You can Google them. But to be effective, productive and confident in studies/work/life, our kids need to be empowered to look after their own health. And that starts with real food. 🥑

Gewoon op m’n matje thuis.
Ik heb een tijd lang yoga lessen gevolgd. Toen een tijd thuis gedaan met Yoga with Adriene.
Toen kwam de klad er een beetje in. Ik denk omdat ik wat anders wilde. Toen zag ik de pilot van @thefitsisters_ 3 weken 3 lessen per week, online. Perfect om er weer in te komen. .
Ik ben een echte low impact ‘sporter’. Wandelen, yoga, dat soort dingen. Ik zeg altijd vind iets wat je fijn vindt, dan hou je het vol. .
Oh. Soms zeggen mensen ‘yoga is geen sport’. Probeer het eens zou ik zeggen. Vaak zijn dat de mensen die het goed zou doen 😆
Wat is echt jouw sport? Of wat zou je wel eens willen proberen?

This weeks module has been all about Ayurvedic healing, and it has been such an amazing insight into myself, my moods, personality traits, digestive system, skin, relationships etc. seems a bit far fetched I know but I’m really into it and it makes so much sense once you start reading more and more. ✨
Ayurveda is a traditional, alternative healing that integrates body, mind and spirit to prevent disease and promote holistic wellness. It focuses on diet, herbal remedies, physical movement, meditation, breathing and physical therapy.
Ayurveda is about the balance of the 3 doshas within everyone, with everyone having one dosha that is more prominent than the others. They are fire, air and earth.
I wasn’t surprised to find out I am a Pitta which is fire! Pitta people are described as fiery natured, intense, hot, light and high energy. When in balance, Pitta are good decision makers, teachers and speakers and are often out spoken. But when out of balance can be short tempered and argumentative. Yup! That’s me! ✨
I have had a very flat week this week, and definitely feeling a little out of balance, so it’s great to learn through Ayurveda how I can rebalance and centre myself. But also to understand my nature, and accept that sometimes I cannot control what happens around me, and I just need to roll with it. Easier said than done ❤️

I’ve always loved fashion, but @hannahshawstyle knows how to make a girl level UP 🙌🏻🔥 Not only is she a gorgeous human, she’s also incredible at what she does.
The biggest takeaway from working with her is to dress for your personality type (which is something she helps you establish). If you’re not dressing for your fashion personality, you’re not expressing what you really want to represent to the world, which can actually limit your confidence 👠
In my case, I wasn’t being dramatic enough with my style and I wore waaaaay too much black 🌚 My go-to style or ‘comfort zone’ was Holly Willoughby when in fact my personality wanted to be less romantic and more edgy (or in Hannah’s words, ‘City Chic’ 💁🏼♀️)

Why do we put the labels ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ on everything in life - if our biggest desire is to be happy?
Why do we let something be a ‘dislike’ for us?
It’s so incredibly limiting, and solely built on past experiences.
The thing is that no experience repeat itself twice. Situations sure can seem alike, but they will never be the same.
If we’ve already decided for ourselves what we don’t like, we are inevitably going to struggle in life - trying to carefully manipulate our surroundings so that we don’t bump into our dislikes.
Wouldn’t it be easier to just stay open? To think that no matter what comes my way I am going to enjoy it? It’s a new experience, and there’s always joy to be found. Especially when YOU bring joy everywhere you go.
Don’t close yourself off to life - stay open.

1- Horne calabazas , jitomate y pimientos rojos (les recomiendo sean pimientos rojos para que el color del puré no cambie , ya ven que hay muchos niños que ven verde y no se lo quieren comer) puse todo en el molde de cristal con un chorrito de aceite de oliva sal y pimienta , deje las verduras a temperatura media por 20 mins más o menos o hasta que estén blandas
2- cuando las verduras estén listas mézclalas con mucho puré de tomate el más natural que puedas comprar , yo compro este que se llama passata que son puros tomates y viene envasado en cristal , agrega chipotle o chile de árbol Si te gusta el picante 🌶
3- pon todo en la licuadora, licúa bien !!! 4- Esta salsa deliciosa que queda puedas usarla de muchas maneras, en pasta , como sopa , para albóndigas , picadillo etc. Yo la use para hacer como un chili de 3 frijoles distintos que tenía
Como pueden ver hice quinoa también , serví sobre una cama de ensalada ( yo en lo particular no me limito en la cantidad de verduras que como ) , puse mis frijoles con mi salsa y acompañe con aguacate , no saben que delicia !!! Y lo mejor .... La Niña picky de 10 años ni cuenta se dio de las verduras 👏👏inténtenlo !! I finally figured it out how to trick a picky 10 yr old eater into eating more veggies . I have to say this sauce taste delicious , blending roasted veggies with tons of passata sauce it's so easy and so versatile , can be use for pasta , meatballs , as soup or like I did for a #vegan 3 bean chilli
A post by the lovely @drrebeccamoore (check out her account if you don't already) yesterday discussed spirituality in the postpartum period. It reminded me of a paper I read on this called //Becoming a Mother: Matrescence as a Spiritual Formation// °
I will do a blog post on this later but for now I will leave you with one of the take home messages - "To mother well over the long haul, new mothers need to learn self-care as well as infant care, for neither is instinctive"
She talked about breastfeeding as providing wisdom for the link between self-love and self-giving. A mother can not maintain her milk supply and therefore nourish her baby if she is not rested and nourished with food and fluids - I would add mental and emotional support into this mix.
The author of the paper says self-sustenance is one of the greatest lessons of breastfeeding. Such a great perspective on this.

⏰ Weekends are great, they offer the opportunity to connect with people we can’t during the week, give us precious time to catch up on things we may have had to sacrifice during the week, to pursue our passions and hobby’s and to unwind and recover. 😁
Don’t get caught in the trap of wasting your weekends and forgetting all the hard work you put in during the week. ⚠️
So many people do so much great work for 5 days a week but undo it on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 😪
Use the weekend to set yourself up. Be productive, take care of yourself and keep pushing forward. ⏩
☯️ Balance in life is important, and sometimes we can celebrate or enjoy foods that are in front of us, but try and use the MAJORITY of your weekends positively. ✅
I know for me, since focusing on trying to make as many of my weekends as possible geared towards restoring energy and setting my week up I have felt much better during the week which makes up the majority of your week. 👍
🤔 Don’t expect to feel good or to see the results you want if you are writing yourself off on weekends, whether it’s with partying, food, not moving enough or something else. 😣

After decades of avoiding conflict and choosing the path of least resistance, I’ve realised it’s ok to be both a lover and a fighter ❤️
🌻 Waking early. Watching the sun rise above the sea. Reading my book, journaling and spending time with me. Then hiking with a few beautiful people. Laughter. A dip in the sea and live music in the eve. Dancing barefoot on the sand. & beautiful people to share the day with. Oh and obviously lots of delicious nourishing food 🌻

Remember when they use to tell us bikinis were only for “skinny” people? When you didn’t feel comfortable wearing a bikini around your friends and family because you didn’t think you had the “right” body type? Hiding under a t-shirt at pool parties because you didn’t look like all the models that companies were using the sell bikinis? I’ve been there, I’ve wanted to wear a bikini so many times but felt I couldn’t because I was never “skinny”
Guess what? It’s all BULL CRAP! There is no “bikini body!” Stop over exercising and under eating so you can wear a bikini, just wear the freaking bikini and OWN IT!

Today when I stepped on the scale, I asked the nurse if it would be okay if she didn’t say how much i weigh’d out loud, and I closed my eyes.
This is a ritual I have, because... well... My weight doesn’t represent my health in its entirety.
I know you struggle with the scale. I know your heart drops when the doctor tells you step on up. Its as intimate and shameful as it can get.
I want to give you permission to tell them no. (Depending on the reason of the appt, like a health related issue)
I also want to give you permission to throw away the scale.
Your weight is .000001% relevant to your overall health 🤷🏼♀️
Here is what the scale doesn’t tell ya:
1. How your clothes fit- have you found yourself saying no to foods you crave because you feel uncomfortable in your clothes? You don’t need to lose weight my love, you just need to buy clothes that fit!
2. Your digestion- How happy is your tummy and bowel movements?
3. Mental health- This is #1 before anything else. Your happiness is everything.
4. Energy- are you drinking tons of caffeine to keep up with the world and your life?
5. How hard you work during movement and exercise- in most cases, we exercises that aren’t fun because we see they prove results. What if you try exercise that you love and see how much that effects your work ethic!
6. Your self worth- you are worth all the love in the world mama.
Health is not defined by a number.
