⚠️ Cutting calories! ⚠️
One of the best ways to maintain your weight loss is to make sustainable dietary changes to ensure you are not eating too many calories. Key word: SUSTAINABLE.
Is cutting out muffins, cookies , cake or any other of your favourite sweets from your diet sustainable! 🙅 NOPE.
Is depriving yourself of food for the day so you have enough calories in the budget left for that slice of cake sustainable? 🙅 NOPE.
If you want long term weight loss maintenance, you need to learn how to trick the system 😏
For people like me who don't want to give up their sweets 🍫🍪🍦, making very simple substitutions can do wonders!
For example, whenever I bake, I almost always substitute oil/butter with equal amounts of unsweetened applesauce and my cakes come out just as moist, flavourful and they even have that extra hint of apple flavour #notmad ! 🍎🍏🍎
This way, I can save myself close to 1000 calories (that's a solid ~100 calories off each slice you eat!) #winning 🏆
You don't have to eat boring, flavourless foods and cut out desserts to hit your calorie and macronutrient goals. Just make smart decisions when cooking, take advantage of the available substitutions and eat guilt-free! 💁♀️
Believe in yourself, have faith in your ability, without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy 😃

I'm not hating on instagram. I love instagram!
I just think that we should use this magnificent invention of social media to spread THE RIGHT STUFF. The vulnerable stuff, the uplifting, the positive, the relatable, the real.
It shouldn't be about showing off. About showing our best side. Our perfect angle. Our "perfect" life.
When we take the scary step to open up and be honest on instagram and other social media platforms, we can do GOOD in this world. We can create change. And we can help others.
What is something you would want to see more of on instagram? Do you like picture perfect images? Or do you prefer the more real and honest stuff?
I never lost my period.
I was never hospitalized.
I never fainted.
I was never close to dying.
I never vomited.
My BMI was low, but never too low.
But I starved myself.
I lost interest in all the things I used to enjoy.
I couldn't sleep.
I had anxiety.
I had no energy.
I was cold all the time.
I constantly dropped things.
I spent hours at the gym torturing myself.
I spent hours in front of the mirror hating myself.
I lost years of my life.
One of the major reasons I never got help is because I didn't show many the classic signs of an eating disorder. And therefore I also didn't believe I was sick.
For the longest time I thought I didn't deserve help, because I wasn't sick enough. If I couldn't even "succeed" at my eating disorder, I didn't deserve to recover from it.
Please don't let this be you. Don't hesitate to ask for help. Because you deserve to feel good again. And your problems are valid.💜
I used to hate the idea of a salad when I first became vegan. Even buying them was very expensive and the options weren't all that great for the baby sized portion they served. So I never really got into salads. 😩😒😒
Buuuut now that I make them myself, I definitely enjoy them a whole lot better!
I love salads that are hearty, packed with flavor and of course with nutritious ingredients. .
Today I have a Kale & B-Squash Salad:
Marinated kale, roasted butternut squash and onions, cooked spelt berries, avocado, hemp seeds, toasted walnuts and pine nuts, and tomatoes.
I marinated the kale overnight using just coconut aminos, simple but sooo delicious. -Roasted the bsquash and onions with dried thyme, dried parsley, sea salt and grapeseed oil.
For the nuts, I just toast on the stovetop, no oil, about 2 minutes on each side, dash of sea salt (optional).

SMOOTHIE | I used to be the BIGGEST smoothie girl - I even went through a phase two years ago where I’d have huge smoothie bowls for supper.
Now I only have smoothies on occasion and I make sure they are filled with all the good stuff and with minimal low starch fruits (like blueberries).
This smoothie had:
~1/3 can of coconut milk
~1/3 cup blueberries
~large handful of spinach
~1/4 of a cup of chopped frozen banana
~1/2 cup frozen cauliflower
~1heaping tsp almond butter
~1 heaping tsp sunflower seed butter
~water to thin
~1/2 scoop of protein powder
& drizzle with but butter of choice
This smoothie is thick and creamy and filled with protein, healthy fats, veg and a little bit of fruit!
Cauliflower takes the place of bananas to thicken it up, but you can’t taste the cauli! I add just a tiny bit of banana to get a little bit of the flavour but it’s optional - or if you are good with bananas then you can replace the cauliflower with banana ☺️
