Day 9 of the #AdventChallenge with @iammelwells@theselflovesummit
Day 9 is enjoying the Christmas magic. Yesterday I baked mince pies for the first time - loved it, definitely started a new tradition! (although I did learn what NOT to do for next time!)
One thing we do like to do at Christmas is walk around the houses locally and look at all the Christmas lights people have put up! 🥰 Then come back home, put our lights on (just interior) and watch a Christmas film. Tonight’s the night! 🎉
Planting more tomatoes today because I’ve had such success with them already this season. I’ve chosen the classic Tommy Toe variety and the heirloom Lemon Drop variety from @thediggersclub - so far with regular feeds, deep watering, routine pruning and strong staking, my tomatoes have kept pest and disease free as well as growing taller than the stakes they are on. Do you have any tips on how to grow organic, spray free tomatoes in your patch? Would love to hear all and any. I love having fresh tomatoes all summer long! They can be tricky at first but with some care they can provide an abundance of fruit.
"You look simply RADISHing!" It's holiday party season, add a little flair to your holiday approach like these sparkling French breakfast radishes.
Add an infrequently worn piece of jewelry to your attire, try a new food at a party, or plant new #seeds in the #garden. Whatever you choose, do it without judgement to yourself or others who are also adding their own special flair.
3 days ago I spotted this zucchini in the garden and now it is the size of my forearm 😲 Homemade veggie sausage rolls for dinner with this beauty. Oli has just finished making his first batch of shortbread too 😋
There is always a somethin' brewing in the #glittergreenthumb lab. These are the supplies I purchased and posted about on Wednesday. But this post is for the breakdown, cost and use.
Clamp lamp $6
LED Plant Light $5
Right now I have three different plants that the light is feeding. Two are seedlings, the other is small but still more established. The purple glow is SO strange, lol.
All plants are in a window but not getting much sunlight. I use the plant light from about 6:30am (first trip to the kitchen for ☕) to 8:30amish ( when I'm flying out the door for work). When I come home the plants get the purple glow from about 7pm to 10:30pm.
Let's see what this set up can do! I can already think of a few adjustments...
Day 7 of #AdventChallenge with @iammelwells@theselflovesummit
Today is about self care. I’ve been feeling very up and down over the last few days, so I’m glad it’s the weekend and I can just focus on making me feel the best that I can 🥰
After finishing work, I ran myself a lovely, hot bubble bath, got my seeds sorted for the Seed Swap I’m taking part in, and now I’m about to cook dinner and start reading a Christmas book 🎄📖
Actually, the most ‘self care’y thing I’m doing today is cooking myself a healthy dinner - the urge to eat my feelings is strong tonight! 🙈❤️
It’s raining cats and dogs but that does not call for an unproductive day at the Mendeleev casa! Practiced my daily gratitude, yoga and meditation. Got my errands done this morning and enjoyed lunch with my hubby. Now I’m working on @dog.mama.store orders and adding two new designs to the shop! 🐾
Day 6 of the #AdventChallenge with @iammelwells@theselflovesummit .
Today is about finding time for yourself. Today I’m at work, then we have our team Christmas meal at 2 - lots of fun, but not much space for alone time! So I’ve made a date with myself for Saturday. I’ve booked myself in for my Christmas hair cut, then I’ve got a table @ivynorwich for breakfast, a spot of Christmas shopping, then home to bake mince pies!
I always make sure I got some fresh air at some point during the day, as I can’t spend a day without being near some trees! (I think that’s why we bought a house on the edge of a wood!)
This pic was taken in the summer - the planters outside The Ivy are just stunning! They’ve been updated since (will show on Saturday!) but I walk past them every day and they are definitely a favourite 🙌🏻
Do you whisper sweet nothings to your darling greenies? Do they pass messages back to you? The one word I find myself constantly giving as advice to my fellow plant lovers is observe observe observe!! My lush goddess of a peace lily videoed here tells me when she’s parched, my Zanzibar gem lets me know when it’s had enough to drink, my monstera hints that his balance is a little off and my mother in laws tongue just keeps on keeping on like a trouper. If you watch, notice, gaze and peep everyday as you pass by, you will soon start to speak the language of plants too. Like all languages, it takes persistence, practice and passion. Warning - you’ll be hooked for life after the first few words! Video is on my balcony at the end of a long, warm summers day in #brunswickheads 🙏🏼🌍🍃🌻

Although my all time favourite flower is the Sunflower, this is closely followed by Calendula.
Isn’t she a beauty🧡🧡🧡
