Strawberry & Basil Prosecco Daiquiri 🍓🌿
This was a totally delicious cheat made using @kickicecocktails daiquiri mix with @kalkimooncompany pink gin, topped by @brownbrothers prosecco. Stir and garnish with a stem of basil - my purple basil had gone to flower and made such a delicate pretty garnish 💜

When I present my Martini Masterclasses I always include the venerable @tanquerayginau to showcase what you can do to craft a great Martini. With only four botanicals there is nowhere to hide when mixing one up. Another reason why, in a new bar, I always order this to see what they can do: my idea of an extreme sport. 😉🍸 It’s a classic for a reason.

Introducing Reid + Reid Rev. Dawson’s Gin. An homage to a prohibitionist (our great, great grandfather). A classic gin for juniper lovers.
Ginger is one of our native botanicals that gives ARC Botanical Gin its unique flavor profile, a true taste of the Philippines!
Our fresh organic ginger, scientifically known as Zingiber officinale, is sourced locally and chopped the day we distill to maintain its peak flavor. During a careful 8-hour distillation process on our state-of-the-art custom copper pot still, the ginger imparts a slightly woody, spicy-sweet warmth to our citrus-forward gin recipe.

Turkish Delight in a glass...with bubbles! 😍
A G&T with Lanique Rose Liqueur added.
Earlier this year, I bought this glass in Harrogate. I had had a rare moment of astounding clumsiness where I broke my previous fave decorated glass when I was trying to unstick something, my hand slipped and catapulted the glass across the room in spectacular fashion. I was keen to find a replacement glass I could love as much, and I discovered this one. You see though, this is not how it was born. It was born with a stem and a base. But awhile ago my errant ways equally led to their demise. I was gutted. But then I realised that somehow the stem had broken in such a warped way that the glass could still stand up of its own accord, and nay it could stand up when filled with liquid too. And now it’s my favourite glass. You want to know why? Because it has character, because it has integrity, because it hasn’t given up, because it is perfect in its imperfectness and maybe one of a kind. It’s okay to be a little wonky, in fact it’s more magical if you are. #perfectimperfect#metaphorforlife#ginspiration

Today was a lovely.
Despite the fact I had to get up at 5.30am and get a train and bus to Blairgowrie.
Despite the fact the second bus I was waiting for only ran on Wednesdays (oops)

Sometimes when I look at an art piece, I wonder how it would taste if it were a cocktail - and not a painting. I wanted to pay homage to an artist that has brought me a great deal of inspiration and who also has a healthy appreciation for Absinthe by deconstructing one of his paintings.
The Almond Blossom painting was a gift by Vincent Van Gogh to his brother and sister-in-law to symbolize “new life.” They had just given birth to a baby boy who they then named after their Uncle Vincent.
Fun Fact: Not all of the self portraits Van Gogh painted were not actually self portraits but instead portraits of his brother.
Drink: Almond Blossom
1.5 oz gin (@martinmillersgin )
0.25 oz Absinthe
0.75 oz lemon juice
1 oz Orgeat
0.5 oz egg white
Barspoon orange flower water
Add all ingredients to a shaker and dry shake. Add ice, wet shake and pour into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish: a line of cinnamon.
Happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend? I’m dogsitting for my mum while she’s off on her holidays, so I’ll mostly be making cocktails, binging on Netflix, and just generally being lazy (with some dog walks thrown in, of course). If you’re looking for a great spirit forward cocktail for your Friday, look no further than the Ford Cortina! This is a little riff on the classic cocktail called The Ford and it came about because I wanted to make The Ford, but didn’t have any Benedictine to hand. Despite me naming my twist after a Ford car, the original cocktail came long before Henry Ford created the Ford Motor Company (it dates back to the late 1800s). You may notice that I break the rules and shake this cocktail instead of stirring! Why? Because I’m a rebel – and I liked it this way! However, you can definitely stir this cocktail too if you’d prefer. Shall we give it a try?
The IGTV video is up too – and my glamorous assistant is back so make sure you give it a watch!

Fresh strawberries make a delicious addition to a classic G&T - I used The Larrikin gin from @kilderkindistillery and highly recommend it.
