For a while now I've been working on my shyness and today I really stepped out of my comfort zone. Let me tell ya it felt great!
I wanted to show you this new skill I'm working on ! But in order for you guys to really see it I had to put my big girl pants on and go up to someone and ask them. Not only did I have to be confident in asking them to take a video of me, I had to be confident in the exercise I was trying out (which was a little hard at first because I asked a personal trainer who clearly knows more of what he's doing than me). But I did it and I even got his feed back. So here's what I got to show ya! •••
It's an awesome finisher at the end of your workout. 100 squat pulses with ropes (I completed it in two sets of 50). Vivid color is not something I ever dreamed I could pull off. I always said "I'm too old." "I'm not trendy enough or edgy enough." "My clients might judge me as unprofessional" Or the famous "I'm too chunky to wear it with confidence!" But you know what, those are all just the lies I tell myself to stay in my safe zone. So as an act of disobedience against my negativity I just went for it and now there's no looking back! Guys. The messages are there. The path is really there. The way to go is right in front of you. The only thing stopping you, is YOU. If you feel foggy, feel confused and frustrated you just need to breathe, sit down and become aware of your body, your breath and yourself. Let everything else fade away just for a moment or longer if you have the time! Transformation is usually in the things that we resist the most. If you feel like placing blame on others or you feel like something else external is keeping you from doing something please realize that YOU CHOOSE to let those people, and that external environment to effect you. You don’t have to let anything disrupt your inner peace no matter how important that person or place is to you. Take a little more time for yourself today, take a little more time for your own transformation and growth. After all with inner work and growth comes great reward, more abundance and overall well being. I did not say this is easy, but it’s not as hard as you think. You know that little voice inside your head telling you to go do that little thing that makes you happy instead of washing the dishes? Yeah you are suppose to listen and go do that. Now I’m not saying partake in destructive behavior that you are going to disguise as self love aka drinking, drug use or any form of escapism. I’m talking about those little hobbies and interests you’ve left behind due to all the things you “need” to do. The only way you find happiness and help people around you is if you cultivate happiness within yourself every day. Go hoop, take a hot bath, cook yourself a tasty meal, or dance in the mirror. I've been physically challenging myself CONSISTENTLY since the beginning of May.👊
Before that, I was recovering from giving birth to my beautiful daughter, Sophie. Before that, I was going through an inactive & difficult pregnancy.
Before that, I DEFINITELY was not at my healthiest & NOT AT ALL physically challenging myself. Sure I was active, BUT I wasn't pushing myself enough!
I had the opportunity to sit in on a call last night with a knowledgeable woman who has been lifting weights for 17 years! She was down to earth, relatable but also stressed to us how weight lifting can be EMPOWERING & effective for women! •
I am a work in progress. A mom of 2 in my mid thirties who is not "athletic". I have deflated boobs from breastfeeding, a stubborn spare tire, and well I'm sure other 'things' I could point out. BUT since starting to PHYSICALLY challenge myself for ONLY a few months now, the WAY I feel about myself - both inside AND out have changed dramatically! I am GRATEFUL and IN LOVE with my "perfectly imperfect bod".💛

So I worked out — OUTSIDE in a high school parking lot — while my son was at soccer practice. ⚽️ .
Guess what? Neither of us died! Not of humiliation, embarrassment or ANYTHING! In fact, I think only two cars drove past, but I’m not certain, because I was FOCUSED. 👁
You see, that’s just it. It’s not hard. It just takes a little bravery, and a simple choice to BEGIN. 🦋

Day 1! A day late but better late than never!

Sometimes I get a little intimidated when starting a new workout routine🏋🏼♂️. Anyone else? .
I start to wonder 🤔 - what will the moves be like, will I be able to do them, will my form be perfect. .
I used to let those thoughts prevent me from pushing me to lift stronger. .
And then I found a trainer from the comfort of my living room who walks me through, who helps me figure out what I should be lifting - side note if anyone has some weights collecting dust, let’s talk! .
It’s not always pretty and sometimes I have the I just rolled out of bed look, but it sure feels good afterwards. .

The hardest part of starting a new program is taking the BEFORE pictures 😒
It’s scary to take those before pics. NO ONE likes doing them. But how will we know how far we’ve come if we don’t take them?

🦋YOGA HIKES/ MINI RETREATS🦋
Do you want to press the pause button in the middle of a busy week? Take time to connect with women (currently these weekly hikes are for women- will likely do a Sunday one in the future, for all)? Get movement in while laughing, bonding, and exploring a new area?
Trying out a new spot (thank you @kaitlinbergin for introducing me to it!). Will be adding a bit of cardio in to this one- jogging a bit along the way to get heart rates up. “Yoga Hikes” started happening last year, on a whim, natural fit because that’s what I spend pretty much all my free time doing on my own, and has become one of my faves.
Now scheduling in for this week- either Thursday 9:45- 12:45ish or Friday 9- 12ish (includes travel time from Teaneck area). The feedback has been fabulous- if you’ve been on one and enjoyed feel free to comment below. And let me know what day you’ll be joining. PM your email for full details 😀🙏🏻

‘You don’t grow when you’re comfortable’...waarheid als een koe. Vorige week heb ik de Coach Expert opleiding tot Senior Practitioner bij NONONS afgerond. Comfortabel was het jaar zéker niet, maar wel ongelooflijk de moeite waard. Ik heb geleerd te doen wat nodig is om effectief en op de kern te coachen. En nee, dat gaat niet vanzelf. Daarvoor heb ik héél veel moeten reflecteren, peinzen, schrijven, pijnlijke inzichten onder ogen moeten komen, mijn eigen talenten en tekortkomingen nog verder moeten uitpluizen, moeten leren doen wat ik soms liever niet doe. Het heeft me een (nog) professionelere coach gemaakt. I love Facebook memories ❤️❤️ this time 3 years ago I was joined by my wonderful friend Abi on an island called Koh Yah Noi in Thailand for a 4 day yoga retreat. I was meant to travel to Singapore to see Abi but my passport was full and so I couldn’t travel out of Thailand as I had no room for another stamp, expat problems 😂😂 It’s so good to get out of you norm and get away to do something different, see a new place and spend time with good friends while also meeting new ones. ❤️❤️❤️ I am very blessed to have friends scattered all over the world and despite it being so much easier to keep in touch now there is nothing like spending quality time together in person ❤️❤️
