(How this happened, I am unsure. Love IG! ) The ancient cast iron urn with flowers is at the entry to the brick walkway to the door. The garden is blooming happily after the very severe winter. The only plants that suffered in a major way were the six new holly bushes that the deer ate almost down to the ground. Even they are recovering. Lifestyle. Architecture. Design. What drives you to where you live? For me it’s lifestyle. I have been fortunate to live in different styles however vintage has stolen my heart. When I arrive home, I am at peace. It calls back to my childhood years. All I need is a lemon meringue pie sitting on the kitchenette table.
I shared a few picture of our visit to Mount Vernon on my last post. Today I wanted to share a few more photos of the grounds. The first photo is one of Martha Washington’s gardens. It was just lovely and smelled heavenly! The building shown here is similar to a green house. The room with all the large windows housed citrus trees. There were brick fireplaces behind the wall to heat the room during the winter months. Today the one end of the building serves as a gift shop. If you scroll ▶️ through the pictures, to the end, you will see what I bought there! The seeds were collected and packaged right there from the garden. So excited to bring them home and share them ... as well as plant some in my own garden! 🌱🌻🌸 It’s exciting to bring a piece of Martha’s garden home with me. ❤️😊 #mountvernon#marthawashington#garden#flowers#gardens#seeds#history#vacation#virginia#countryside#sheep
