pro-tips/alternatives for fellow binders who do and dont have a binder! (* is for both people with binders and without :))
1. get a tight tank top- but not too tight that it hurts. fold it mayybe 1-3 times until its covering from the top of your cleavage to the bottom of your breast. this works great when wearing a shirt thats loose (like a large sweater, or somthing baggy that could be a size up from what you currently are).
2. get a bandana!! make sure it fits firmly around your chest- (but not enough that you cant breath). fold about two time to, like i said before, above your cleavage to right below your breast)
*dont wear binder(or alternative) for more than 8 hours
*dont wear binder(or alternative) to bed
*wash it and yourser regularly
*get one in your size(or fit the binding alternative properly so you are safe!!). do not wear a size smaller than your actual size no matter how much you convince yourser you can handle it. maybe you can mentally, but your body is in a lot of danger if you do so!!!!
*if you are extremely uncomfortable, take off the binder immediately
*do binder exercises and make sure youre able to breath well
*do just basic exercises that are known to reduce the fat in your chest (if you search hard enough, youll find them). do w/o binder(or alternative). *avoid physical exertion when in a binder(or alternative). this can effect the way your organs work, break bones(mostly ribs), cause migraines/headaches, passing out from exhaustion and more. -
BE SAFE EVERYONE!! :) ~<3 #binding#bindingtips#transgender#trans#ftm#androgynous#nb#nonbinary
Something that I’ve been seeing a lot lately that’s been bothering me is cis people talking over trans voices on trans issues. I’m really tired of hearing cis people chime in on trans topics about “their experiences in bathrooms” or how “they sit to pee too”. Well, good for you, but you’re not trans so it’s DIFFERENT. Yes, thank you (I guess) for your solidarity, but it’s not comforting. It’s more or less just throwing back in our faces what we can’t do/don’t have/etc. I’m SO tired of my experiences being invalidated by cis experiences. If you are cis, PLEASE stop commenting OVER trans voices on trans issues. Let trans people talk. Let them have their spotlight & their moment because it’s OUR lives. OUR community. Not yours. Just because you’re an ally doesn’t mean you’re entitled to our spaces, our knowledge, our lives, our experiences. Just because you’re an ally doesn’t mean we owe you ANYTHING. We do not owe you answers, we do not owe you explanations, we do not owe you politeness or niceness. I’m not going to applaud a cis person for treating me like a human being. So many allies seem to want praise & applause for treating trans people like human beings. But no, I won’t do that because it’s WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING ANYWAYS. I’m so tired of allies saying “but I’m an ally so what I say is okay” well, no it’s not. Because unfortunately the majority of the time, the information is incorrect, offensive or contradicting something a trans person is trying to talk about. • I noticed it a lot on my most recent post about trans people using the bathroom...it upset me to see how many cis people were commenting on “their experiences” in bathrooms when they are NOTHING like trans experiences & never will be. The fact that there are women commenting “I use the men’s room all the time and it’s no big deal!” ...exactly, that’s EXACTLY my point. It’s not a problem. Because you’re cis. Because you’re a cis women. Not a transgender man. I’m so tired of cis people diminishing our stories by trying to talk over our own with theirs. If you’re a cis ally, PLEASE stop inserting your own stories/experiences on trans topics unless it’s asked for/allowed (continued in comments)...
Yesterday I went for my first running session with Trans Can Sport, and have to say I felt so much better after! Not just about the fact that I'd exercised and started taking steps towards getting my body to how I'd like it to be, but also I had a great realisation after the session that I'd not been thinking about anything else for the whole hour. I was just concentrating on my running and my surroundings. We went around Hove Park which was gorgeous. Jacob who took the session was brilliant and structured it really well. Definitely feeling keen to keep this up, I think it could do wonders for my mental health as well as my physical :) also returned home after to find Zoë had cooked dinner, and we had a nice chilled evening watching Criminal Minds, so I'm in a pretty good place right now 😊
