“Surrender will always feel like dying, and yet it is the necessary path to liberation. Change can only come with time, and patience is the very shape of love.”
11 days ago, hubs fractured his shoulder in a freak accident exiting Marta that has left him incapacitated. 4 days ago, I had a cochlear implant with hopes of restoring some of my impaired hearing. As we convalesce under blankets, surrendered to the difficult task of healing, while watching the wind whip the barren trees back and forth, I’m reminded of the words of the legendary Bob Marley and sunnier days when being ambulatory was easily taken for granted. “Just because you’re happy, it does not mean that the day is perfect but that you have looked beyond its imperfections.”

Happy #shrubsaturday shrub fam!
It is the last day of #nationalmocktailweek and while it may not be frozen drink weather, this is one tasty spirit-free drink.
3oz - Lapsang souchong tea
3oz - Coconut water (we used @zicococonut)
1oz - Chai Pear #ElementShrub
1 frozen banana (the riper the better)
Brew a cup of lapsang souchong (a smoked tea) a little stronger than usual and let cool. Add all of the ingredients to a blender. If you don't have a frozen banana, just use a regular banana (the riper the better) and add a few ice cubes. Blend until smooth.
For the garnish, I took loose lapsang souchong tea leaves and pulverized them in a coffee grinder with just a touch of cinnamon. Sift that over the drink and then garnish with a few caramelized bananas and a few slices of a ripe pear.
If you are looking for a cocktail - substitute the Lapsang Souchong tea with 1.5oz dark rum from locally made @lyondistilling.
Cheering to a 3-day weekend & counting down to Summer. It takes winter to truly appreciate warmer days and frozen drinks. .
Budapest has quite the rooftop scene. Filled with tourists and locals alike, watching the sunset, enjoying the skyline, sipping on som’ bubbly. Rooftop outing is one of my favorite thing to do. 🥂Every day after exploring, I’d go to a rooftop, relax, meditate on my day, hear convos in all kind of languages, people watch. Do you like rooftops? What’s your favorite season?
