How did you start doing what you do?
In 2009 I moved to Paris with himself. My French was rubbish but I somehow managed to get a decent graphic design job in a decent agency (where nobody spoke English). After a couple of years of branding and print design and constant overtime my French was good enough but I had had enough. An opportunity came up to work in an up and coming gallery in the heart of Paris as their digital projects manager. I jumped on it. I loved it and it was the starting point of my own business. My network grew and I had enough web and design work to make the leap to be a full-time self-employed designer.
Soon after, when I became a mother, the time I needed to dedicate to getting the work done and mama duties forced me to take a long hard look at how I managed my time. ( see my other post about stepping out of my comfort zone ) So now, I work one on one with my clients rather than the traditional web designer, web marketer. I am truly passionate and excited to do this work and every small decision, mistake, fluke, and risk taken got me here.
There is no shortcut. Sometimes there were late nights, sometime tears. But it's all worth it.
