We fell in love with @lolacafe's Pasta Negra (Php 310) last night! 😍 It's the best squid ink dish I've tasted to date, as they didn't scrimp on the ingredients. Each pasta strand was well coated by the squid ink + aligue (crab fat) mixture, making it uniquely rich in flavor. The umami taste of the mixture definitely made it stand out, unlike other squid ink dishes where only the color of the dish is evident. The baby squid toppings were really soft and delicious, too! ❤️ A must-try when in Lola Cafe. 😉
Might delete this later dahil di bagay sa feed ko, but just letting you know that @OhMyTeaPH - Maginhawa is actually worth trying. Walang revolutionary claims gaya ng mga pa-hype diyan, pero may lasa, di matabang. I just wish they cook their pearls well dahil sobrang tigas, like nagi-snap parang goma when you bite, instead of almost melting in your mouth. #GourManila

Recreating my favorite Indonesian street food at home: Nasi goreng (fried rice) and beef ribs satay.
My first try of this was 20 years ago in Surabaya, Indonesia. And then later as street food in the markets of Jakarta. I fell in love and became obssessed with it. Failing to shake it off my taste buds. It’s a street food so it entails fast cooking. So prep all ingredients first.
Saute garlic, onions, and carrots. Add shrimps (cleaned and deveined, leave tails) then cook till transluscent. Add the cooked rice ( I used jasmine), chopped scrambled eggs. Season with salt, red chili pepper powder, curry and paprika powder.
Add kekap manis or sweet soy sauce.( I didn’t have in my pantry so I mixed oyster sauce with brown sugar, ketchup and chili sauce). Add the toge, red and green bell peppers (or your choice of soft veggies that will be the last ones in). Garnish with spring onions. Serve hot with fried egg on top.
BEEF RIBS SATE
Pan sear beef ribs till brown on both sides (precooked in pessure cooker). Push to the side of the wok or pan. Saute garlic and onion. Sprinkle with crushed black pepper. Pour satay sauce and cook till sauce is thick. Serve with the nasi goreng and sliced limes.
Mix well grated ginger, minced garlic,soysauce, brown sugar, lime juice, cayenne pepper, smooth peanut butter ( i used chunky) sesame oil.
