do you drink alcohol? i get this question all the time and thought i would address it with the holiday season upon us. no, i do not. December marks one full year of not drinking for me. at 22 years old this decision has not been easy. i stopped drinking for many reasons: i was always the drunk friend you had to take care of, constantly getting sick, getting taken advantage of, blacking out, having hangovers so bad they would sometimes last two days. it has absolutely nothing to do with the calories or the idea of “health”. it’s simple, alcohol does not go well with me and my genetics. both sides of my family have and still struggle with alcoholism. my dad doesn’t drink. it’s a personal thing for me. some people look at me funny and say “why can’t you just have one” - no, there is no such thing as one drink for me and my brain chemistry - and honestly i don’t even like the taste. do i miss drinking? sometimes i find myself longing for the social part of it and thinking back to the fun times i once had. but then i remember all the bad parts, the embarrassment, the regrets. sometimes i feel guilty and fear judgement thinking this is just another thing making me not like everyone else my age and yeah, it can get isolating at times but i thank god i have made this decision early. be true to yourself and your values. make decisions that make YOU feel good. don’t do things just like everyone else because you think you have to or because you are scared to be different. have the strength to be YOU. i can promise that just like me, you can still be fun without a drink 💛

Sometimes you should let others do the deciding, it can lead you to beautiful corners. One such day when I absolutely had no agenda and just needed some company to keep, I was led to this beautiful place. I would not have noticed this place otherwise, as it's almost tucked away in a corner, like a well kept secret. Or probably it's always been in plain sight and I have refused to look as obsessed as I tend to be with my plans.
The place looks like a home turned into a restaurant and it has homely vibes all over it. The way the place has been set up, the little corners - the seating by the windows with little flower pots like cozy corner of your home, the color red which doesn't scream loud but rather is soothing. Their staff is helpful and will make you feel right at home, like you have come to visit a long time friend and want to feed you aplenty.
We ordered the Chicken Pie and a Jacket Potato. Cautionary note - Their jacket potato isn't those tiny potato shells served as appetizers in most other restaurants but is the size of an ostrich egg and happily so. The chicken pie had had some creamy chicken filling and the pie crust itself was the right amount of flaky, soft and just the hint of crunch. They serve you a whole rather than slicing a piece and serving from what I have experienced so far. We chose chicken, cheese, spring onion bell peppers and some others for the potato filling and I was more than happy with what was served. The down side? Too much potato for the desi (Indian) in me who still has potato as a side and not the main dish, I wished there was a little more filling. Ended with some espresso and some heart warming conversation making for a beautiful evening. I was almost sad to leave.
In a world where everyone is in a rush @cafelaventana makes time stand still and is the perfect place if you are looking for a quiet evening to reflect, for conversations and just let the evening pass by.
Tuesday morning breakfast 🍳 Two slices of organic @daveskillerbread topped with mashed avocado 🥑 and two scrambled folded eggs 🥚 in olive oil and topped with some mild organic salsa 🍅 I channeled @choosing_balance for the folded scrambled eggs and plate idea 😊 It turned out well and was a simple but good combination💛

there’s something about the art of yoga that calms me no matter what mood i’m in. of course, the hardest part is getting myself to roll out my mat & actually take the time to release my tension instead of engaging in other things. however, considering how much ive grown to love the practice over these past 6 months, it doesn’t come as much of a hassle anymore. it brings me pure joy. i’m thankful for yoga- it is something special that years ago i never would’ve found myself doing... my pup was quite dedicated to make it into my clip today lol she kinda made the camera refocus towards the end... gotta love her🐶
also, thanks to my girl @leeshealthylife, i was able to enjoy this suuuuper relaxing flow this morning 💕 you guys should totally check out her page & youtube channel for great yoga flows and other fun things! (: happy tuesday, everyone☀️
Had my fave lunch @vivachicken today...with half leftover for dinner! I’m pretty picky when I order it, but it’s so good nice and simple. Avocado, feta cheese and chicken. And plenty of the green sauce. 💚
Quick breakfast this morning of scrambled eggs, an everything bagel with extra EBTB seasoning bc you can never have too much🤷🏼♀️, and some berries!🍓🥯🍳 I can’t believe Christmas is only a week away it’s getting so close!!🎅🎄 Happy Tuesday everyone!
Happy Monday! Lunch today was this super simple and cozy tomato soup along with a lathered up piece of sourdough toast to dip!
Tomato bisque soup made with tomatoes, @pacificfoods vegetable stock, @siggisdairy plain yogurt, yellow onion, salt, pepper, dill + green onion with a side of @gjustabakery sourdough toast topped with the new 🤤 @fourthandheart turmeric ghee
Hope you had the best weekend and wishing you an amazing start to the week!

If you love tuna then you’ll love this lunch, but if you don’t....might wanna keep scrolling 😂
Tuna on toast or in this case an english muffin, has been a staple of mine for probably a year now because 1) it’s super easy 2) it’s a great source of protein!
I aim to get in around 20-30 grams of protein at every meal & normally eat a protein bar a day to make sure I have adequate protein intake to fuel these muscles! One packet of tuna is 18 grams of protein so if you lack protein intake & like tuna...whip up this lunch! 😍
Since my week is full of studying for exams, i’m all about quick & easy but also nutritious!
Thankful to have sweet potatoes & veggies already roasted up so this meal truly only took 5 minutes!
Details: Toasted @foodforlifebaking english muffin, @daiyafoods garden vegetable cream cheese, 1 tuna packet topped with EBTB seasoning, red pepper flakes & @traderjoes green dragon hot sauce post pic of course 🔥
Now back to hitting the books 📚
Anyone else SO ready for Christmas break?!? I cannot wait! 🙌🏻

TWO YEARS APART.
Minimal cardio, all the weights, & eating to fuel my body. .
One of the things I love about fitness is your body always changes, you get stronger, faster, you rise up to new challenges. What I also love is there is ALWAYS room for improvement. .
Who’s excited to see what 2019 will bring!? 🤘🏼
“No, I’m good. I just ate.” The biggest lie ever.
I said this for years at every family dinner, lunch with friends, break at work, and even to myself.
On the inside, I was hungry. My body weak. My mind scared. My stomach cramping.
I had convinced myself that to get to the ~body~ I wanted that I thought would equate to pure happiness and bliss, that less was more. Less calories that day meant I was doing a good job, right? 👎🏼That hours on the elliptical meant the weight would be gone in no time, right? 👎🏼 That ruining my social life and relationships meant I was going to hit my goals? 👎🏼
I would bring food with me everywhere. I would stuff protein bars in my purse to eat before dinners. I would eat carrots at bars. I would do anything and everything to make sure I was in control. If I wasn’t in control, I was convinced my world would come crashing down. That my body would change, my weight would go up, and I would have to suffer even more.
That was the old Kendall. The new and improved Kendall can tell you a few lessons she has realized years later:
🔸Food is not the enemy. No specific food group will make you fat. Fats are HEALTHY. Carbs are HEALTHY.
🔹Scales are fucking dumb.
🔸You can eat things besides bone dry chicken & plain oatmeal. Look at my account.
🔹Cardio is a tool.
🔸Eat the damn dinner. Go out with your friends. Whether it’s one, two, or three days, don’t miss out on the memories to weigh less. Don’t you see me and that fried chicken? We were in love & i still woke up the same way the next morning.
If you read this, thank you. I love you and I appreciate you. I am here to help. If you need someone to talk to, shoot me a DM. Have a great night! 💕
