NOTHING SHOULD STOP YOU.
This is the tiny space I have to prepare pasta in what I call my “ Barbie-sized” kitchen, a crammed space which I find incredibly frustrating but that at the same time never succeeds into deterring my ambitious food projects.
I recently got myself a board made with untreated wood to extend the working surface when I produce pasta, and that tray comes from a local second hand shop. You now see two “ fancy” brass cutters on the board but until a month ago all I could use was a pizza cutter from IKEA and I would make my own ridged boards with polymer clay, because very few pasta tools can be found here in Norway and international shipping can be unnecessarily expensive after passing through postage AND Norwegian customs.
The reason why I’m showing you this is because some, me from a year ago included, think you need lots of fancy stuff and loads of space to make your own pasta.
I now can answer NO, you really don’t.
All you need is a lazy afternoon, some flour, eggs ( heck, you can eve skip those and go for water!), a pinch of creativity, some elbow grease and the desire to have fun by creating something with your own hands.
Then as with everything you will try and yes, you might even fail. Pasta making is actually a pretty simple process once you have mastered the basics. I think the trickiest thing to master is actually at the very beginning of the process, when you need to develop a feel, a natural instinct of when your dough is moist/dry enough, which is not terribly difficult but it is something you learn only by experience, only after having worked your fair share of doughs.
So yes, you might fail every now and then. But hang in there. As Samuel Beckett once said, “Ever tried, ever failed. Fail again. Fail better”. Few things are as rewarding as to master a new skill and overcome your environment’s limitations
I'm not a great user of green aple but there are times it just goes right, this is one of them: ginger, green aple and spinach foam, chicken consommé, chicken breast, inspired by #DouHua ( #豆花) . I still can't go all traditional, so I use chicken instead of soybean. But doesn't matter, it is just divine! #oriental

slow cooker’s are AMAZING! throw in a few ingredients, set it, come back a few hours later, and BAM! dinner is served. i will definitely be making this braised beef ragu again! shout out to @pinchofyum for yet another amazing meal.
Crockpot Braised Beef Ragu
Makes 4-5 servings
- 2 tbs. olive oil
- 1.5 lbs. round roast
- half yellow onion, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can San Marzano whole tomatoes
- ½ cup red wine (i conveniently had some left over from a night out)
- 2 tbs. tomato paste
- 1 tsp. dried basil
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 tsp. salt
- black pepper, to taste
- 4 large carrots, halved
- Heat oil in a large, deep frying pan. Brown beef roast on each side.
- Place beef and all remaining ingredients (expect carrots) into the crockpot. Cover + cook on low for 7-8 hours.
- About halfway through, add the carrots. When the beef falls apart easily when pulled apart with two forts, it is ready. Shred beef into pieces and give it a good stir. Discard bay leaves.
- Serve over brown rice, polenta, cauliflower rice, or pappardelle + enjoy!
Hangin’ on tight because it’s... Hump 🐫 Day. Did you know a camel is nicknamed “The Ship of the Desert” because they sway side to side like a boat. I have to say I am still in awe that Carolina Camel Rides is only a little over an hour away from Morrisville, NC. If you plan to visit @ridescarolinacamel before year end, be sure to call ☎️ ahead because they are booked for a large portion of the remainder of the year. They also host special events including birthdays 🎉! Very tempting. Is it odd that I am secretly thinking of hosting my own birthday 🎂 party here next year 🥳??? #camelrides#birthdayparties#ramseur#ramseurnc#randolphcounty#theheartofnc#bucketlisttour#humpday🐫
