Making fresh pasta and sauce is a labor of love that always loves you back. Tonight’s dinner was freshly made pasta with a goat milk Alfredo sauce topped with fresh basil, a a little bit of grated Parmesan and a few goat cheese crumbles. 😋
This may not seem like much, but this dish is incredibly special to me. I visited my folks over the weekend and whenever I go their way, my mom always asks me what I want to eat. Without hesitation, I almost always ask her to make her ginger chicken so you can bet I was awfully excited when I walked in and smelled that familiar, heavenly aroma! Mom expertly braises chicken thighs in a soy sauce mixture with tons of fresh ginger, onion, and garlic until everything is falling apart and the chicken has absorbed every ounce of flavor. This is proof that there’s nothing more satisfying and heart warming than mom’s cooking. What’s your favorite dish childhood dish, the one that instantly transports you back to being home?

Last Night, I marinated Chicken legs with @nznandos Peri Peri Lemon and Herb Marinade. My husband and I personally like the MILD, but it's too hot for my kids. Also, I made Nasi Goreng Rice which is my husband's favorite. Sooo yum!

It's #homecooked Bak Kut Teh or Pork Rib Soup again for dinner tonight.
The slightly peppery punch enlivens the soup sweetened by the pork ribs, further made rich by the many bobs of garlic cloves. Have it with a steaming bowl of jasmine rice, pickled salted vegetable and the accompanying cut bird's eye chilli in dark soy dip. Simply delish !
You will notice the array of porcelain ware in the background. We had them taken out while spring-cleaning in prep for the coming Chinese New Year, and I thought let's get them in the picture.
Evoking the mid-century, nostalgic Asian feels are:
• yellow porcelain soup pot
• green enamel 'tingkat' or tiered tiffin food carrier
• tiered bamboo weave basket
• green Peranakan porcelain 'kamcheng' & casserole
(not antiques, but could be in another 50 years!), the above * non-vintage * items mostly picked up from Malacca, a hotbed of Baba & Nonya culture.
* * The stack of four, very well-kept, Chinese white 'dragon & phoenix' bowls though, are true-blue antique porcelain pieces - probably 50-90 years old or more, gifted to me by someone dear. So precious is their sentimental value, I characteristically only use them around this time of the year.

Lavei bem as batatas e sequei. Cortei em rodelas e temperei com azeite, limão e chimichurri.
Assei em forno pré aquecido a a 200 graus por 25 minutos.
