Our kids haven’t had a day of school yet this week due to icy back roads in our school district. I haven’t left the house in a couple of days, and I’m probably a little bit too excited to go get my groceries...🤪
Good morning friends!
Since I have some new followers and it’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself I thought I would do that today! 😁
My name is Kara and I’m the weirdo with the double chin! 😂
The girl you see in the glass door that’s my little sister Kelsey! @kelseyywardd
We own a home together and we are slowly but surely making it our own!
I’m currently 28, so as Kelsey would say 12 years from 40... 😂
My full time job is in HR, but I’m also a part time hair dresser and small business owner ( @thegatheredmarketshop )
I’m a @chickfila aholic! (I’m trying to cut back, keyword TRYING 😂)
I love any and everything home decor! And some people say I’m pretty funny! (You can see all that crazy in my stories 😂)
I’m so glad you decided to join my little corner of this Instagram world and I hope you have a great time while you are here! 💕
Also no I’m not married (just ask my mother 😂) so if you know any good candidates send them my way so I don’t have to go on the bachelor because we all know they don’t let big girls on that show 😂😂😂

Good morning! I’m sharing a little progress shot this morning from a kitchen/great room renovation I have been working on the past few months with some really amazeballs clients. This job has been plagued with issues along the way (mainly a bad contractor 😡), but I think we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel...and the end of the tunnel is gonna be good!!

Kitchen remodel is underway! Stayed up way too late getting ready for it and I'm #tiredasamother!! Thankfully, I'm fueled up with my Mom juice and I'm recharged for days (or at least today)! 😂 So excited about our new kitchen and can't wait to see progress!!!

Looking at this picture, there’s a million little things I want to change. There are so many places I want to make more beautiful or interesting: places that need more character, more interest, more something. I’m tempted to run out, fill my arms full of new and beautiful and interesting things and bring them home to satisfy the need for more. But that word “more”? It’s a dangerous lie. It’s a word that bleeds over into all areas of our lives leaving us defeated and discouraged, unsatisfied and wanting. .
We do the same things to ourselves, you know. We stare in the mirror or examine our souls and want to make something more beautiful, more interesting, more something out of ourselves. We believe the lie that we need to be more in order to be enough. We want to hurry the process of refinement and sanctification. And often times, when we rush the process we still tend to feel unsatisfied and wanting more. We can’t stand to stand still in the tension of becoming.
“The Lord makes everything beautiful in its time.” Ecclesiastes 3:11. Beauty, real, true, soul beauty does not happen overnight. Sanctification is a process, one that often requires standing still and waiting on the Lord. Our human desire to rush towards perfection and completion hinders us from learning and trusting in the journey the Lord sets before us.
Even our own homes have a becoming process. What starts as empty walls eventually becomes a home that tells your ever evolving and changing, very beautiful story. Don’t rush it, friend. Stand still in the process of becoming, whether in its your own home or in your heart, and trust that the Lord makes all things beautiful in its time.
Happy Wednesday!! I just want to say thank you for all the love on my 5k friends post. I will be announcing the winner in stories today! I am so grateful for all of you ❤️ I hope you all have a great hump day!
One of the many benefits of being an Orlando resident is that we get to enjoy all this cool and sometimes free places! If you’re in the Orlando area and you’d like to take the kids somewhere fun without having to pay big bucks make sure to check out @disneysprings! Disney Springs is an outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex at the Walt Disney World Resort. Swipe left to check out one of my favorite spots for the kids, the @t_rexcafe, a full-service restaurant with life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, woolly mammoths and simulated meteor showers, as well as an impressive Octopus Bar, a dinosaur-themed retail store!
An old roommate left behind this rug when she moved out years ago and it’s been sitting in the basement collecting (saw)dust ever since. Finally cleaned it up and added it to our second story guest room. Loving all the natural colors and vintage finds in this room. I’m thinking either faux brick or wood accent wall for behind the headboard.. what are you thoughts? 🤔
F L O U R I S H .
Finally. I’ve been praying for a word for 2019 since before the New Year trying to hop on that bandwagon. I wrestled with “new” or “grow” because my life is going through so many changes and I’m trying to be all these things and stop other things and get better and do new things. I want to flourish. Flourish as a woman - the woman God had in mind when he made Eve, the crown of creation. Flourish as a writer and a photographer and channel my creative side every day. Flourish as a wife and attempt to fully step into my role of helper - not under but equal. Flourish as a daughter and answering the yearning for the relationship that God wants with me. Flourish in rest. Flourish as a member of society and become more educated on issues and use my voice to bring awareness. Flourish as a friend, an explorer, and let's be honest, an adult.
