So as promised, I wanted to talk about what HIIT and LISS are and some pros and cons for each! Let’s start with LISS today.
LISS stands for Low Intensity Steady State. When you do a LISS workout your heart rate should be in the fat burning zone which is about 50-60% of your max heart rate. To find out your max heart rate subtract your age from 220. To find out the range your HR should be in for LISS just do 220-age x 0.5 and then 220- age x 0.6. Everyone is different tho and those heart rates are just guidelines. On an intensity from 1-10 LISS should feel like a 3 or a 4. In terms of how long you should do it for, try to aim for 45 to 60 min! If that’s too much for you, you can totally start with 30 min and work your way up :)
Benefits of LISS
* 45-60 min of LISS can help the body become conditioned over time to use fat as a fuel source better at your next workout * Low impact on joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles ( less chance of injury)
* Quick recovery ( safe to do daily) * Some people view it as peaceful and stress relieving ( can watch a YouTube video while on the stair master)
* Can be seen as boring if you thrive in creative, more challenging routines
* Some people don’t feel satisfied after workout or challenged enough
* You shouldn’t rely on LISS workouts as your one and only form of exercise because your body will adapt over time
* Takes more time than HIIT
What kind of activities can you do with liss? Examples are running, swimming, biking, walking, elliptical, or stair stepper!
If you’re new to working out I would say to aim for one or two LISS workouts a week!

Video from back on my first full day in Bondi on this past trip... What a start to the trip... 😅😅 *Crazy to think how differently I imagined my time in Bondi going even just a few hours before this little handstand...😅 despite the initial disappointment and craziness, it now literally scares me to think of what I would have missed out on if things went as I had first expected! *
So grateful for all the struggles, lessons, fun times, and bonds that happened over those past 3 weeks! 🙏🏽❤️ *

#Transformation. #Throwback. 5 years ago to today! I was 110lbs 2D looking little nawdzz to today where I’m happy still healthy and curvy. Biggest transformation is the one you can’t see, the mental growth. We all start somewhere y’all. Only thing you can do is WORK. 💛💪🏻 #TBT
Fitness wasn’t something that I loved right away.
In fact, I hated it.
I hated that I wasn’t good at it.
It was frustrating wanting to be able to do half of the things I was seeing everyone do.
You can’t get better unless you try.
And I did.
Every single day.
I started setting small goals for myself.
And sure enough, I got better.
I look back and see how much stronger I’ve gotten since I first started and I never would’ve thought I’d be this dedicated.
Point is, if there’s something that is challenging for you,
don’t give up on it.
This may not have to be about fitness,
but anything you’re trying to get through in life.
Don’t run away from it because it’s challenging.
Keep working at it.
Every single day.
You’ll get to where you want to be eventually.
