Fisherman’s Bastion & Matthias Church, Buda Castle, Hungary 🇭🇺
This white-stoned neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque architectural was built from 1895 to 1902 at the site of an old rampart that, during the Middle Ages, was defended by the guild of fishermen, who lived nearby, thus the name of the bastion
The Matthias Church, on the other hand, is dated way back to 1015 founded by the first Christian King of Hungary, Saint Stephen (his statue, made of bronze, can be seen in one of the photos, in royal robe with the crown of Hungary, riding a horse)
According to our tour guide, it is also known as Coronation Church as it is used as a coronation church by many Hungarian kings for centuries
Interestingly, during the Ottoman Turks occupation in 1541, it served as a mosque for over 150 years
Today, it stands as one of the most important churches in Hungary
We were so lucky during our visit to witness the changing of the wall colour into bright orangey/reddish when the sun rays at sunset shone across the sky onto the white-stoned wall. It was simply magical
Strange things happen when I let myself to DREAM: the clock’s hands are going backwards 🕰 I can reach out the sky with my fingers and the sunset starts to be filled with an exciting fragrance 🌈🦄
If you close your eyes and you would imagine a place, where it would be?
