Dawn in pink and blue; sunlight becomes rain, becomes sleet, becomes snow, hills transform. Horizons vanish, vistas shrink - a snow globe in life, briefly shaken by the weather. A hush gathers with the fall, even the birds cease singing, for a while.
Rare days, topsy turvy days, all stood on it's head. We breakfast late watching the snow, mesmerised by a fleeting marvel. Lunch becomes dinner, dinner lunch, plans cast adrift; this and the weather rare occurrences both. My man walks in the snow fall, flushes a woodcock - picture and story, nothing wasted. I gather ingredients, nourishment in between work, feeding internal fires - apple and cheddar for soda bread, mushrooms and cider for soup and cake to fill the corners. Mind and hands drift between writing and drawing, planning and creating, always moving. It is best this way; one idea gives rise to another, movement generating warmth, momentum sustained.
Cosy, timeless, cocooned and fire lit - mementos from last week's yearly escape. Hearth and home, they fit the mood of the day. Time suspended and imagination fired, a flood of fuel for word and picture all dressed up in different houses from different times. This place never gets old, always something new. Woodsmoke drifts lazily from chimneys; I settle to shape a future.

( The storm) “The Sea awoke up at midnight from its sleep And around pebbly Beaches far and wide I heard the first wave of the rising tide. Rush onwards with uninterrupted sweep A voice out of the silence of the deep. A sound mysteriously multiplied, as of a cataract from the mountainside. Or roar of winds upon a wooded steep, so comes to us at times, from the unknown And inaccessible solitudes of being. The rushing sea-tides of the soul, and inspirations we deem our own. Are some divine foreshadowing and foreseeing of things beyond our reason and control. ( H.W. Beautiful ending to an ugly Monday.
Anybody finish up this BOTM pick? I’m still working on it, but it’s good so far. Also, I’ve been playing with my Alexa app over the last few weeks. Tonight while I was cooking supper, I asked Alexa to read me a book. She quickly responded that she was reviewing my Audible downloads and then immediately started where I left off on All The Beautiful Strangers by Elizabeth Klehfoth. I was amazed...but then remembered Alexa is Amazon and Audible is Amazon based...but still pretty cool. If I would have asked Siri to do that, she wouldn’t have been able to for some reason or another.
