Before even trying it on, I knew that Hermès carré, Le Tour de Monde en 63 Cases by designer Pierre Marie @pierremariepm was going to be very easy to tie and a delight to wear. The dichotomy of this design is that while being whimsical and playful, it is also refined and elegant. I love to highlight the graphic edges and circle patterns on the corners and find that no matter the knot, its graphic beauty always comes through. I find that this particular colorway has a bold, retro, vintage feel and decidedly menswear vibe that I love. Please scroll left to see some knots with a carré that I believe is destined to become an Hermès classic.
It’s Friday night and it’s all about Funkacize! Sock hop dancing 💃🏽 to old school soul 🎶 🎵 music! I know you just see the back of me, but closely in the mirror you’ll see our leader, the one and only, Ella Joyce! ❤️ her and her energy and knowledge of music that SSSS grew up on. Now, who can name the singer of this song?
I don’t own the rights to this music.
In my opinion, the quintessential scarf of Hermès’ Autumn/Winter 2018 season is designer Pierre Marie’s @pierremariepm playful and animated, Le Tour de Monde en 63 Cases. Marie’s design is basically a giant, intricate game board, thus being the perfect exponent for the French fashion house’s current theme of “Games.” Inspired by Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days, this game of goose takes us on a journey around the world as we make our way through 63 squares depicting various international destinations on to the final goal which is the fashion house’s Paris headquarters. The catalog description states: “From Venice to the Caribbean, from Iceland to China, from Scotland to the Seychelles, the dice decide the route… that leads to 24 faubourg Saint-Honoré, in Paris, the home of Hermès. The way is peppered with pitfalls and surprises – here the Loch Ness monster, there a giant tortoise, further on a trip on a flying carpet – but also with references to the history of Hermès. Several personalities from the house welcome us as we skip from square to square. An invitation to go on a fantastical journey.” The fascinating novelty this design presents is that it is interactive, for it comes with a set of dice in a pouch with game instructions. So, not only do we get to wear it, but we can also literally throw the dice and play the game on its surface. This playful duality makes it a enchanting innovation and a must for the scarf lover and collector. But, I always insist that the ultimate success of a scarf design lies on how it ties and based on this alone, Le Tour de Monde is a winner. Its animated interplay of bold geometric patterns and colors and dynamic and strong border graphics are outstanding. I especially love its modern vibe, whimsical feel and dashing menswear style. Please scroll left to see some details of this singular and delightful creation, including the other colorway that I fell in love with as well as a bird’s-eye view of the carré.
I drove to this fuchsia icon a year ago. It was captioned Mr. Chair. Did I want to subvert that to Ms.? 😉 It matched my home and it wasn’t a far drive for me - 7 minutes north. And yet someone from a different state beat me to it. That’s ok. My impulse to consider this purchase [which I really could not afford and at a time when I’m trying to lighten up my load] coincided with menopause starting to assert itself on me. .
I AM taking up more space. It emanates from the core of me, my trust in me fully, my inspired aura. And my physical size too. Yes! I had never experienced weight gain until the onset of the big M. Menopause brings that on like robust magic. I AM yes! taking up more space [I have my moments of adjusting to that] and yet, I like it! .
This week was my birthday! As a side note, this time I was not interested in a party or celebration, I was super focused [kind of, with some interjections by and with my daughter] in completing the launch of what I most truly want to assert and pursue. Of what I’ve been on so fully. Of my commitment. Of what’s clearest in my heart. Of what I’m here to do. .
I got that out privately to family.. . It’s off! It’s taking up some space in the inboxes of those who are closest to me. [and shhh. I think it was too long. I don’t believe anyone has read it yet]. .

Is it a necklace or bracelets?! Both 💕 I love dual purposes of anything. These bracelet become a necklace when I need them to be a necklace and they come together as bracelets, when I want to adorn my wrist. Inquire within.
