"Why is it that a woman knows another woman who has either been sexually assaulted or murdered but no man knows anyone who does these offences?" - Mike Wachira, Deputy Director-CREAW calling on men to refuse to cosign other men who are violent and hold each other to account to the highest standards. #Femicide
TW: Lots of anger and cursing. "Nusrat Jahan Rafi, an 18-year-old student studying at a madrasa, or Islamic school, in Feni, went to the police on March 27 to file a report against her principal for allegedly sexually harassing her." Nope nope nope
Don't come at me with how a woman should cover herself to avoid leading men astray. She was a religious studies student all covered up and was still sexually exploited by the person in the position of power at her school.
I'm a goddam principal too. To me, that designation means that I'm serving people under my care, not the other way around. I'M A PUBLIC SERVANT, not a Khaleesi.
WTF!?!? Remember her name NUSRAT JAHAN RAFI. #repost@world
Nusrat Jahan Rafi, an 18-year-old student studying at an Islamic school, in Feni, Bangladesh, went to the police on March 27 to file a report against her principal for allegedly sexually harassing her. Eleven days later, she went to school to take her exams but was tricked into going to the rooftop of a school building, where at least four unidentified people set her on fire after she refused to listen to their demands for her to withdraw her complaint against the principal. Erin Castro 2018
Castro and her boyfriend were driving to a night club for her birthday. The boyfriend stabbed her and then he ran over her body twice. He told athorities he did it because he didn't want her to call the police.
"Nusrat, who was 19, was from Feni, a small town 100 miles (160km) south of Dhaka. She was studying at a madrassa, or Islamic school. On 27 March, she said the headmaster called her into his office and repeatedly touched her in an inappropriate manner. Before things could go any further she ran out.
Many girls and young women in Bangladesh choose to keep their experiences of sexual harassment or abuse secret for fear of being shamed by society or their families. What made Nusrat Jahan different is that she didn't just speak out - she went to the police with the help of her family on the day the alleged abuse happened." --- FOR THE ENTIRE ARTICLE:
I live in a country laced with drought and hunger yet our d.p is busy propagating 2022 politics,
I live in a country where am a graduate yet the government offices are charged with old, rude and lazy old people,
I live in a country with approximately 208 female mps,47 women representative and 3 female governors yet femicide is the order of the day and they are mum, their voices only getting heard when they are asking for more representation, what is the purpose I dare ask if their few voices are already unfelt?,
I live in a country where the president I elected twice in my first election of my life shamelessly graces our TVs with bloodshot eyes asks,'mnataka nifanye nini?',if you don't know what to do what business have you being president?

#Kenya : "It is with a lot of regret that I want to say that I have learned of an Ivy that only exists in the world of social media." .
Winfred Waithera, the mother of Ivy Wangechi, recently pushed back on negative comments that had circulated about her daughter on social media earlier this week. Ivy was stabbed to death last week by a an obsessed former classmate after she REJECTED his advances. Rumours as to why the 6th-year-medical student was hacked to death have run rampant, with many of these rumours being proven wrong.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends. The accused is currently in police custody. .

My images and reporting together with Miriam Berger and I have been following for months and are committed to continue that looks at just a part of a crisis effecting all women, Jewish and Arab, in Israel. While the media focused on a big protest this past winter, we haven't seen much follow up since. So watch this space for more reporting on gender-based violence, which ultimately hurts us all.https://www.thenational.ae/world/mena/for-arab-women-israel-provides-no-sanctuary-from-violence-1.849187 #genderviolence#ViolenceAgainstWomen#Crime#ArabWomen#Israel#Palestinian#JewishWomen#Femicide
Women cut and prepare a long white cotton cloth that will be used to wrap the body of Shadiya Musrati for burial before her funeral at her family's home in the mixed Israeli city of Ramle on December 28,2018 . Iman Awad's mother and other members of her family mourn as they wait for her body to arrive to her home in the Israeli northern city of Akko . She was found dead from knife wounds at her home on December 11,2018.
Awad ,29,was pregnant at the time of her murder and had a child from her previous marriage . The police arrested her husband in connection to her murder but denies any connection to her death. Family members say that she had registered for employment on the day of her murder.

Emily Longley 2011
Emily Longley broke up with her on & off boyfriend of six months after suffering mental, verbal, & physical abuse. He didn't accept the split and followed her to a friends house. He convinced Longley to accept a ride home from him, but he drove her to his house. There he strangled Emily Longley and had his parents help fabricate a story about her dying in her asleep.
Love shouldn't hurt. Period. New post up in my bio. .
I rarely write about things that get me emotional. I don't watch news because I'm afraid it will be another #femicide case. And it always is. I'm not saying all men are wrong, nope but why does it have to be men killing women all the damn time. Sadly, instead of feeling and consoling the victim we have to justify the murder. I don't find the shoka jokes to be funny. I grew up in an abusive home, I wouldn't wish that on anyone not even my worst enemy. I don't understand how love turns to anger to the point of taking someone's life. Only opinion, it was never love to start with. I do hope no more deaths this week, at least not femicide and GBV related ones. 💜💜💜

Where do you get your news from? While many believe that news papers are dying, the reality is that many of the world’s largest media outlets and quickly innovating and working on new ways to deliver the news
In Africa, expensive and intermittent data connections mean many rely on traditional formats, mainly #radio and #newspapers
We’re following reports of an increase in #femicide in Kenya . Are more women being killed by people they know? Or, is it, as some human rights activists argue, a matter of more coverage and attention by main stream media? .
Every day, four women are killed by their intimate partners in the U.S.
This is what a real national emergency looks like #Femicide#waronwomen After almost four decades of decline, homicide among romantic partners is now on the rise, according to recent research by Northeastern University criminologist James Alan Fox. The worrisome uptick has been primarily driven by gun violence, he told HuffPost in an interview.
Fox’s paper, which was authored with Ph.D. student Emma Fridel, analyzed gender differences in homicide patterns over a 42-year period, using data obtained from the FBI. He discovered that intimate partner homicides ― when a person murders their spouse or romantic partner ― increased each year between 2014 and 2017.
In 2014, 1,875 people were killed by an intimate partner, the majority of victims female. In 2015, the death toll rose to 2,096. In 2016, it inched up to 2,149. And in 2017, there were 2,237 such deaths. #Domesticviolence groups often repeat the statistic that three women a day are killed by domestic violence. But according to Fox’s most recent data, it is four.
He also found that since 2010, gun-related murders of intimate partners have increased by 26 percent ― a significant rise ― while those involving other weapons like knives have continued to decline. Most of the increase in gun deaths has occurred since 2014, he said.
Fox said he did not want to speculate about the cause of the spike. “Regardless of the whys, efforts to disarm abusers and stalkers are critical,” he said. “All too often, guns that are purchased and kept in the home, ostensibly for the purpose of self-defense, end up being used against a family member.”
The murder ! Yes murder there was actus reas and mens rea (intention) occurred in Eldoret not Nairobi!
My deepest and most sincere condolences to Ivy’s family.
Young women are increasingly losing their lives in Kenya gruesomely to the hands of men (love scandals). No means no! Rejection means no! Stop stalking women, stop killing women! Put some respect on the lives of young women !

Some names you may recognise, others you may have never heard of before. All of these women and girls were brutally murdered at the hands of men they knew. •
This year marks the 20th year of the 16 Days of Activism of No Violence against Women and Children. Yet SA sits with a femicide rate almost 5 times higher than the global rate. •
Women make up 51% of SA and live on average 6 years longer than men. We are here. And we will not be silenced any longer.
Instead of flowers, cute messages, pink gifts or 20% off sales, how about this Women's Day, you commit to taking action in ending violence against women. When your mate makes an inappropriate comment, speak up. He touches someone without their consent, call him out. Women have been defending each other and we need men to step up and do their part too. Instead of taking offense to #MenAreTrash understand why we fear for our lives daily, and help change that.
Poor women matter.
Disabled women matter.
Fat women matter.
Trans women matter.
Lesbian women matter.
Black women matter.
Your support needs to extend further than women you are attracted to.
Today was long and hard. I trained parliamentary interns on how to address sexual-harassment in the workplace and then did a series of live TV interviews about Canada’s first femicide report, which found 148 women and girls were killed last year. That’s a woman/girl killed every 2.5 days. 💔
This is why I am so into pretty clothes and pretty shoes. If I didn’t bring beauty into my life, I don’t think I would get out of bed. 👠: Canadian company @lintervalle

From my place in the world I speak for all my sisters, women and children that remain in silence.. for those who have the courage to speak and are ignored or misbelieved.. for those that have been silenced forever.
One of Iraq’s most followed social media stars, 22-year-old Tara Fares, was murdered in broad daylight in Baghdad on Thursday, being shot three time at the wheel of her car. Fares is the second prominent Iraqi woman killed this week, after human rights activist Soad al-Ali was shot by unidentified men as she entered her car in Basra on Tuesday. While Fares was not vocal about the government on her social media, her presence online was political — it claimed a space for women to be sexual in a country where the practice of forced marriages and “honor killings” are still common. Fares and al-Ali are amongst four prominent young Iraqi women who have been killed in violent and mysterious circumstances in recent months, and many are worried that it could be part of a coordinated effort to silence the women, who are seen as being outspoken in a conservative society.
