She had a gentle hand for her child, but a hard palm for her work. When she slapped the mud on the rolling plate and spun it with her own hands and pressed them against the sludge, it created wonders and magic. They moved as if an invisible force was guiding them, and the mud molded itself into artefacts. Her perfection was par anyone’s expectation. She did it with grace, while maintaining her haya (decency and modesty), pushing her dupatta on top of her head from the back of her wrist and cleaning the profuse sweat from her brow. She would move the finished piece by cutting the base with a cotton thread, removing it from the plate and placing it carefully under the scorching sun to dry. At the end of it all, she would rinse her hand from a bowl she always kept next to her.
The plate kept moving although physical forces resisted it to stop. It seemed to have a mind of its own, have an immutable yearning to keep spinning and wanting more mud on it, wanting more to be the base of exotic pieces of work. She had never used any other plate. It was always this one. She would never say it, or possibly she would have never even realized it, but her care for her selection always meant for her acknowledging her fondness for this flat piece of stone.
She never mentioned her attachments to it to Kumara. He was very little for this, but she knew he would find one on his own, and she wished it by every breath. The spinning plate which created. The late with half her heart. The plate with a permanent mark, a name, engraved at the bottom: it spun with energy, with affection, with the love of a beloved husband, who once was.

The Dawoodi Bohras live by the saying, “Many hands are a blessing” and for dining this is an encouragement to eat in company. The traditional Dawoodi Bohra way of eating together is around a steel thaal the standard size of which is designed to accommodate a family or any group of 8 or 9 people during a communal dinner.
The Dawoodi Bohra Community, has certain special features, which has enabled it to carve out a name for itself in the life of the nation. Its strong religious roots, its compact social order, its sharp eye for business, its powerful code of conduct, and its sturdy discipline are mainly responsible for its flourishing condition and growing importance. #manyhandsareblessing

- From the song Dil ki Qasam by Noori .
......... Rant time:
I just finished watching Bol by Shoaib Mansoor. And I know that's very late. I just never got around watching it, always wanted to, but well, I finally did today. And I'll admit, I'm speechless tbh.
I'm in tears and I dont know how ignorant we have all been since the longest time in history.
And more than that what stupefies me the most is how with globalization and so much more awareness than our ancestors, how are we are still standing here?
How are men STILL complaining about #AuratMarch2019
How unaware can you be?actually no.
How INHUMANE can you be?
How do you even justify yourself, when there's all this evidence contrary to your messed up innate beliefs?
Why don't you just ask yourself?
You could be the wrong one with the wrong way of seeing things?
How long are you going to let it keep happening & do nothing about it? Oh wait it's worse in this country. When people finally do stand up (for instance in Aurat March) everyone suddenly remembers religion and culture; even started creating drama? TURNING A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE into a joke?!?! How IGNORANT can you get?
How long are you going to keep up with a culture that's rotting it's own people?
How can you even have the audacity to complain about women FINALLY ( and when I say FINALLYYY I am referring to all the unnumbered women from the past who were silenced for standing up for themselves. The women who spent their whole lives as slaves. Women who spent their whole damn lives having a tongue but had absolutely no say on how they would live their own lives!?!! )
those women FINALLY getting to stand up.
If you are going to use religion as the currency to buy yourself a woman as a slave then I'm sorry you might be religious but you lack faith. & above all,
you lack honesty of your own self.
All I'm saying is.
Just let her be human?
Treat her like a human?
That's what Feminism means. Look it up before saying a word against it.
Gender equality means your Y chromosome doesnt make you superior & I'm sorry to break it to you it doesn't give you permission to be a d*** either.
Can you just be human?
But the most beautiful things in life aren't things. They're people and places, memories and pictures. They're feelings and moments, smiles and laughter. So stop stressing so much and start living. If life has given you much to cry about , show life you have a lot more to smile and be grateful for.
