To attain your best self, you will have to out work your current self. Champions are called champions because they have surpassed their rivals,
so the greatest rival you will face is yourself. You will have to challenge yourself, educate yourself, believe in yourself, train yourself and consistently out do your best.
Patience is one of the best strategies you could ever implement—not just in writing, in life.
If you aren’t able to refocus your time and energy after each kick in the teeth (and there will be many), you aren’t able to grow and prosper in this world of words and wisdom.
Does talent come into writing? Yes, I think it does. But not nearly as much as patience. The natural-born novelist will get somewhere, but they’ll wind up nowhere close to their full potential if they don’t stay the course.
So, on this Monday, realise that all these hard moments and sticky points, they’re all positively affecting your writing abilities. Without them, you’d be nothing. Without them, you wouldn’t be the wonderful writer that you are today.

Whether you are a #startup or a #scaleup, selling is winning. You may have just won your first customer generated from an inbound enquiry from a Facebook campaign, or are growing and training a B2B sales force. Selling is a process and a profession. Your competition may be killing it and growing faster with an inferior product - because they can sell.
Customer service provides opportunities to build relationships. It is far cheaper to sell to an existing and happy customer. They will recommend your product or service to others - the most effective form of marketing. Whether you use a clever chat bot or have a call centre, service excellence should be your goal.
This photo was taken during a fitting by my friend, Alex, for a ‘midnight blue’ (looks black) tuxedo at Henry Poole, the Saville Row tailor that invented the tuxedo in the 1880s. The business is still family owned and offers the ultimate in personal service and attention. Alex and colleagues will get on a plane to fit important customers. Customer relationships, including with royalty, often last a lifetime.
You may not be able to replicate Henry Poole’s 200 year old service, but, even if your call centre is just you on your mobile in the bath, make it the best you can.
