I heard this in a song while I was cycling last night, thought I'd share it and make a lil post: "I see no opponents, I compete with myself". The truest words of progression. Competing with the person in the mirror.
You cant compare yourself to any athlete, your history is not the same, your strengths, weaknesses and mindset arent the same. Genetics differ too which is a crucial part of how your body works and what you are prone to. All attributes of the body are affected by a person’s genetic code.
Physically neither physiologically would you adapt to exercise, stress or whatever situation may arise as another person would... So why chase someone else when you can challenge and better yourself, why compare yourself to another when the gifts we are given differ from person to person.
Use what you have, improve yourself, be better than yesterday, strive to be better tomorrow and use those who you used to compare yourself with as motivation.
Not even gonna lie this post is straight up because I’m proud of my #bootygainz 🤷🏽♀️
My booty is part of my BODY - and I shouldn’t feel ashamed of it. My body is a direct result of the choices I make daily:
#mentally (self discipline in my diet)
#physically (pushing my body to max out in my workouts)
& #emotionally (learning to accept what is, and put effort into getting what I want).
✨ life’s been ROUGH as shit lately. People don’t know what goes on behind closed doors - but what I can tell you is that I’m showing up for myself DAILY & creating healthy habits that are helping me get through some of the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced; and I’ve never felt so in control.
Like the #quote says, your playing small does you or anyone around you absolutely no good. Your being #yourself for the sake of being yourself will attract more #authentic#people into your life and create a network of supportive, uplifting and even #fun folks you can #genuinely call #friends.
When you’re #comfortable with you and have people around you who also #love#you for you, the void of feeling alone is filled and the need to “play” people for the sake of not being alone disappears.
One of the many words people use to describe me is "Authentic. Hiding and pretending can be #emotionally, #mentally, #physically and #spiritually#exhausting. Show your colors, get outside, be around happy people etc. “Today you are you! That is #truer than #true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!” ~Dr. Seuss

(Osho).

So #true. I have #friends who do not understand why I withdraw into myself when I am going thru something very #painful or very #stressing. I do this because I’m not sure what will come out of my mouth and how someone will take it. Not that I am #scared to #speak my #mind, far from it. It’s just that I have been conditioned over the years, especially in the long time #relationship I was in, for my mind to go #dark... #Hell, maybe even before this #relationship... I have been #abused most of my #life, whether it was #mentally, #situations#physically, or #emotionally and so my mind is pretty #fucked up. I don’t say that for #attention, I say this because I know there are others out there who are like me and I want you to know that #YouAreNotAlone and that no matter what you have gone thru, #YouAreWorthIt. I’m still trying to learn this for myself... I can say the words and yet, even though I know they’re true, I still have the #doubt. I guess I always will, though the #key is to work on it daily. I go to a Counselor and he is a #GODSEND. He has helped me in so many ways and I am ready for this #journey that we are going on to reach the #destination of finding myself. If any of you ever need someone to tAlk to about the #demons and #darkness, I am here for you. Just reach out. If you are not comfortable with that, then all I ask is to reach out to someone... Someone you trust. And if in the end you realize there is no one you have there are other options.. ▪️❤️▪️❤️▪️❤️▪️

I read this article (dm me I’ll send you the links) and found it worth investigating 📚 how we can care for our emotions by understanding and caring for our brains!
Here is the part that drew me in and stopped me in my tracks, “prefrontal lobes ….This region is also involved with "response flexibility," the ability to take in information, think about it, consider various options for responding and then produce an adaptive response.” WOW!
Our brains and emotional control are amazing!
Then I wanted to know - so how do we take care of our brains! So, I read portions of this and found some answers.
What we eat is important.
How often we move is important.
Acting on our curiosity is important.
Still so true today!!! 💯🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥 My name is Paul Laufer from #Orting, WA and this is my updated Thrive Experience.
It's hard to #believe how much my #life has changed in the last 17 months. I was in a #negative place dealing with some personal challenges of my own. I was #tired, #wornout, with general #aches and #discomfort in my #body. I was flat out miserable.
Today I feel more complete #physically, #emotionally, and #spiritually. I'm more connected with my #wife and #children. I'm more patient. I've found the #energy to make it back to the #gym. My general body aches and discomforts have calmed. My outlook on life is now positive and my compassion for others runs deep.
17 months ago I was introduced to The Thrive Experience, which has helped me make a healthy lifestyle change for the rest of my life and for this, I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL!
If anyone is sharing Thrive with you it's because they care, and more then likely they have a story of their own.
Love you all!!! Paul
