Journey to the Dragon's Keep
Prolouge Part 2
For centuries people visited the memorial, paying tribute the man who had saved them all from destruction. But as time went on his stories of glorious battle became just that, stories to tell young children. Many questioned if the Reign of Dragons was ever even real. The idea of a mighty beast that could tower over mountains seemed harder and harder for people to believe. Smaller dragons still roamed the terrain, but most did not ever grow to be larger than a horse. There were still few that awaited the return of the dragonborn. The Splendor, a group of followers who praised the dragonborn, still waited patiently for the return of their hero. The dragonborn however, was not the only one people anticipated. The return of the dragons was waited patiently for by the Drekonuc, a small society that honored the dragons. During the Great Battle they had made several attempts to murder the dragonborn, hoping to give the dragons full reign over Aldeion. They made countless attempts, but all failed.
There was a short time the Great Battle had all but been forgotten, and the dragonborn became a mere legend to the majority. But peace is never meant to last forever.

Journey to the Dragon's Keep
Prologue Part 1
Clouds rolled in through the sky while thunder boomed. The battlefield lay scattered with the bodies of fallen warriors, both human and dragon alike. A man stood among the dead, his breathe heavy. He dropped his sword and fell to his knees as rain began to fall. Tilting his head towards the sky, a breeze swept through the barren land. He took in a deep breath and let out a mighty roar. The Dragonborn’s shout shot through the air, reaching towns miles and miles away. People crept out of their houses, drawn to the sound. A quiet cheer travelled through the air that rose in volume as multitudes joined in. The battle had been won, the dragons were defeated. Despite the lives that had been lost, there was a feeling of joy in the air. Reassurance of safety lifted the people’s hearts, for they no longer had to suffer under the reign of the mighty dragons.
The rain continued to fall down upon the earth, faster now. It began washing away the scarlet sacrifice that had soaked into the battle ground. A feeling of peace passed over the man. His purpose had been fulfilled, the people had been saved. His sword fell to the ground with a thud and he raised his hands to the heavens.
Then, his eyes closed. A last breath escaped his lips, and his body fell to the ground. For that was the fate of all dragonborn. The gods were merciful. They did not wish the fall of man, so in desperate times they would bless a soul with the full power and might of a dragon. The chosen were to fight against the dragons in the height of their power, then once the people of Aldeion were safe, they would pass peacefully to the next life.
Patrols journeyed out the grassy battle grounds to retrieve the fallen warriors. When they arrived they had hoped that their mighty hero might have lived, that he had been able to live his life along with them. They were deeply saddened to find him dead. He was buried among the fallen heroes of the past, and a statue in his honor had been built. #dragons#dragonskeep#book#prolouge#art#journey#dragonborn#sketch#magic#journeytothedragonskeep#luna#aaron#aphmau#oc#story
