Babaganoush, the wonder pup! Couldn’t be happier with this guy’s progress! We taught him indoor recall and within a week’s time he was able to take his hard work outside and work around tons of distractions including another dog (Violet)! So happy for this guy and his awesome owner for seeing their hard work pay off!

Respect the dog
How to do that? What does that even mean?
To me this means respect that the dog is a dog.
When we don’t do that, we don’t give sufficient structure, discipline, constructive exercise and reward, we get a dog that is confused how they are supposed to navigate this world. That would often be our mistake (genetics does play a big part though) but if we don’t teach the dog how to handle impulses, being inside, being alone, seeing other excited energies (humans, kids, dogs, critters) then we aren’t responsible owners. It leads to anxiety, high levels of cortisol all the time, reactivity, hyperactivity, aggression, etc.
Making sure your dog understands why they can’t run across the street to say hi to the neighbor is lifesaving since they can’t think about the fact they might get hit by something. The only unfortunate exception is if they have been hit by a car before and then they stay back. That is not the way I want my dog to learn lessons...but life gives them those lessons if we don’t do it in some way for them.
Humans even get those lessons sometimes as a reminder to be more careful in instances like using a nail gun, or testing electricity wires, driving recklessly or just without checking that blind spot. It only takes one hopefully minor mistake to not make that mistake again.
When we teach our dogs these things, we are able to be more active with them and fulfill their other needs like running, sniffing, mental challenges of structured obedience work, maybe sports, games and finally...some snuggles and pets. ❤️ .

Life with a trained dog is truly amazing. If you want to maximize the awesomeness of your relationship, get started with your training journey today!
Getting Rocco more use to low level e-collar pressure working on his downstay with distractions. ~
One of the biggest misconceptions about the e-collar is that it's harmful to dogs and it's only for "bad dogs". Super untrue. A lot of my clients are looking for off leash reliability and don't want to be married to a leash everywhere they go. ~
The e-collar is used to prompt dogs on known obedience commands such as sit, down, place, and heel which are all taught on leash first. We're looking to simply create a better relationship and bond between our clients and their dogs. ~
