1️⃣ Drinking - Google your favourite tipple and see how many calories each one is. If it's above 150 calories a serving then try look for some lower alternatives. Gin and low cal tonic, vodka, soda and lime, some Proseccos are all low in calories and will still have you boogying down on the dance floor until the early morning.
2️⃣ Sit Down Food - If you're having a meal for your Christmas party then chances are you've already picked your option to there's not much we can do there. Instead, avoid the bread put on the table, leave some of the carbs on your plate too and as crazy as it may sound you don't have to eat the full dessert.
3️⃣ Buffet Food - If you're heading out for a buffet I want you to stick to the 1 plate rule. When you walk up you get 1 plate. Put everything you want on it and that's it. No backwards and forwards grabbing extra wings, chips and cheesecake. This is going to keep your calorie intake a lot lower and avoid that horrible slump you'll feel when the music starts and you can't move for your stuffed belly.
4️⃣ Get Moving - You may be more excited about the dance floor than the food and if that's the case then you can probably skip this tip. If you're more of a sit and chat kind of person then you need to get moving through the day and even days before the party. Little 10 minute walks here and there soon add up and will start to compensate for that healthy slice of Christmas Yule cake.
5️⃣ Don't Starve Yourself - I know a lot of people think that by not eating all day they're saving themselves for the meal. We all know that the only thing that's going to happen when you don't eat all day is that you demolish the first pile of food you see and open the flood gates for a whole load more. Instead, try having 1 or 2 small protein rich meals through the day with some veggies. This will maintain your hunger levels and stop you asking for thirds.
