This photo is from a series I did seven years ago with the amazing @shotbygary. .
The series was taken during a transformative (and painful) period of my life, much of which was in the shadows, alone. It’s amazing to me that throughout my life, so much of my growth has been in hiding. I imagine that is true for many of us. .
Just recently, during a particularly bad day, someone mentioned to me that they could tell how good I was doing, and that they wanted to soak up some of my good energy. I haven’t stopped thinking about this because it made me realize that we honestly just don’t have a clue what others are going through, just because someone has a good face on doesn’t mean shit. .
I suppose what I’m saying is, we must be kind to one another—just because someone looks like they have it all together, or their Instagram feed looks like they do, doesn’t mean they always do. We are all humans and we all suffer on occasion. It’s part of the beauty. .
Let’s make a commitment to lean in to one another, share what’s up for us, and never make assumptions.
Love ❤️ Janelle
